Pdoc today. T tomorrow. Started a new video game with the spouse last night. Not sure if I like it or if I'd prefer the other one we're thinking about better. Have a trip to go on to husbands family reunion starting tomorrow through Monday. Not looking forward to it. We're also taking the pups so I have to pack a suitcase just for them. Need to go buy another carseat for the little girl, haven't gone on a road trip since getting her. Makes it easier to travel when they stay put.

(((Artie))) there were people raving about swimming in the nytimes this weekend. It just amazes me that all pools and lakes etc are not crowded sided to side and end to end 24/7 no matter how many people talk about it. I guess you either got the gene, or you didnt i got it!
Thanks for this!

One good thing my mother did do when I was growing up, was got all 4 of us kids into swimming lessons early on. I was terrified of putting my face in the water at first, but I had a very patient instructor who worked one-on-one with me and I gradually began to trust him and the water and I learned. And I never looked back, became the mermaid that I am today lol, even became a Red Cross Lifeguard and WSI (Water Safety Instructor) and taught swimming lessons. My WSIT (WSI Trainer) told me I was good enough to test for WSIT myself, then be able to teach WSI, but I was too unsure of myself to consider it at the time. Oh well. I wish I could somehow get in touch with that long-ago swimming instructor, to be able to tell him about my lifelong love of swimming that he had so much a part of.

Wow I am rambling this morning. Hope you got a good night's sleep too!

Thank you ART I did sleep hard last night. Slept through my alarm and jumped up scrambling to get myself ready for work.

That's awesome that you have that "place" in the water. You describe it and I can feel it. I've always been so afraid of deep water. Took swim lessons at summer camp and sunk like a rock. When I was young I always imagined being a mermaid. Hah! I do love seaweed and sushi. I guess if I can't swim like one I can eat like one. The Couch 119: Come Join The Human Shelf!

Hey, maybe you could find your teacher on Facebook. ? I bet he would love to hear how he made such an impact on your life!

Yes! That is what's happening with me reading The Body Keeps the Score. It explains so much, and details why in a very understandable way. It confirms what I've experienced and why my mind, and my body, react the way they do.

Swimming's actually very tiring at first when you can barely do continuous laps. Plus you have to get wet. And you can't listen to your music. And you have to appear in public in a swimsuit. (Google decline in swimming if you want to see more explanations.)

Obviously none of these things bother me. I'm even trying to build up from mile-length swims to 2500-yard swims.

Hello couch, it's cupboard. I hope you're doing well, there in the living room. The kitchen has been lonely lately... visit if you ever get a chance.

Afternoon, couch.

Well I took a LOONNGG nap this midmorning/early afternoon. I just woke up about 30 minutes ago. Ooppss. I am vowing not to stop by pdoc's office today. I will go on my day off tomorrow to fill out my assistance paperwork. I thought I had to be at work at 5, it is actuallyu 5:30, pdoc closes at 4:30, so I'd have to find something to do for an hour. No thanks. I will just drive out tomorrow.

Was looking ahead to future assignments in my masters class and we are supposed to interview 10 teachers for one of them. I was hoping this due date was after teachers reported back to school, but it is due 2 days before they do. I only have about 5 teacher's personal emails to ask about calling and doing an interview. Maybe they can direct me to other teachers that would be willing to do an interview before school starts. I hope so.

We also have to teach a lesson to a classroom of students. That one is due the first day of school here, so I am trying to figure out how to get that one completed as everything is busy the first week of school, especially the first day. No lesson teaching is going to get done the first day of school. Hmmm... I have emailed my instructor on that one asking for suggestions on how to complete it.

Do you have a school e-mail? If so, sometimes there is an address book of teacher's school addresses. Some teachers may be checking school e-mails, as they could be e-mailing each other. Just a thought.

So my plan to be the slowest person ever to kickboard to Cuba (used to be across the chunnel but things change) is still a go!

Got my swim in today before the rains came.

Made it to the gym after the plumber's visit. Right now I am being hypervigilance about everything in the house: what's that sound? Is it supposed to have a drip next to it? Is the water flowing like it is supposed to?

I had something electrical melt in my house right after I moved in and I had to call the firefighters, etc. I think it made me really anxious about house problems, in addition to my issues with having men in the house working.

Sometimes a thread just bugs me and I want to pick it like a scab but no I will not. Wondering if those threads that bother us most are too close to home for our own issues. I am turning up the self restraint to 11.

I gave my old brken down couch away to the re-doer-upper man yesterday. I didn't mean to, I thought he was just coming to inspect it. So we now have bean bags to sit on til i get enough money for a new couch. Being nearly 50 and slightly disabled makes getting out of a bean bag entertaining.
Who was the comedian who said the test of how old you are getting is the amount of time taken to get out of a beean bag?

UGh. There is a problem with the plumbing work, a leak. I guess I should be glad I'm hypervigilant to check things repeatedly?

Argh. Therapy appointment Saturday, then she is on vacation for two weeks.
I want her to relax and get rested, I really do.
But.
Maybe I should be like "Bob" in "What about Bob?" and take a vacation from my problems.
I hope those two weeks go fast.

Work was really funny today. The team had a going away party for one of the managers. There was a moment where the boss guy was tearing up because he felt touched. The whole room went silent until one of his wise guy employees said "my therapist is really going to miss hearing about you every week." uproarious laughter ensues!!

I like my new team!!!

After your mother, the sharks should be easy.

Maybe we could pick up some hunky defecting Cuban baseball players on the trip...

I knew you would think of that!

I thought we would wear adult diapers like that astronaut woman.

I'm betting the rest of the Couch would like us to shut up about now. We are lowering the tone of the place.
