Hey, couch. Long time no see.

Yesterday, I survived my husband being doped up to the gills with Ativan and a four hour wait to get his semi-annual MRI done. He's still trying to sleep it off. Good thing he doesn't remember much of last night because he was really silly.

Today is a quiet day. All I have is laundry.

The koolaid fail fresh in my mind, I attempted peanut butter cookies today. Turns out, they didn't burn and taste devine if a little chewy. No, couchies, I don't need two dozen cookies in my house. The kids will eat more than me, so it works out well. Being trapped here with no ride and limited ingredients is not interesting, tomorrow I'm going to lose my last 3 brain cells and boredom might do me in. Happy Saturday!

My son is out in the garage working on his truck, changing the rotors and brake pads. Part of my dad definitely lives on in my son - he could fix anything on a car. My son looks at things, and somehow his mind figures out how it works and he fixes it. That's how he fixed the latch on his car hood recently. For the brakes though, I made him watch some learn-to videos and talk to his mechanic friend first before he attempted it. Not that I don't trust his very mechanical mind, but..... this is brakes we're talking about here.....! Plus our neighbor works on cars all the time, and he has already borrowed tools from him once to do his recent oil/oil filter change, so it's comforting knowing he's there to lend a hand if my son needs it. My h knows nothing about working on cars, and beyond changing oil I am pretty useless too.
Thanks for this!

Son just came in and showed me that the breaker bar he was using to try to get the caliper off broke. He's now headed back to exchange it in my car. I was like well, I guess that's why it costs almost $400 to have somebody else do the job for you....

Getting some good practice feeling my feelings and letting them go today. Son just yelled at me for suggesting we scrap the idea and have the brake place do the work. I didn't mean I thought he couldn't. I tried to explain, he just looked so miserable that he was already having trouble, I was going into protective-Mommy-mode and wanting to save him from the aggravation and having to do the work out in the hot garage. I need to stop doing that. He's going to be 18 in 2.5 months, he's not a little kid anymore I need to let him have this learning experience.

I'm sitting here grinning like a schoolgirl - I posted on my facebook page asking any of my friends who work on cars how to loosen the caliper bolts that are stuck - and my high school crush responded with some tips - teehee I still get all giggly anytime he replies to something I post!! 15 is jumping up and down at the moment.

...AND, he used said crush's tip and the old rotor is now off, the new one is in place, and he's putting the caliper back on with the new brake pads. I am so proud of that boy.

Dang. The 2nd set went much quicker. He's all done! And this ends my running commentary on my son's first brake job.

They are, but they aren't as chewy and the flavor is different.

When I was a kid we could buy the Malaco ones in bulk and they tasted better than the ones you buy in a bag now. Something about the texture.

School starts Monday and I've been procrastinating all day, I've got to brave Mt. Laundry to find proper matching socks and school appropriate attire. Most of last year's stuff is too small, I did a bit of online shopping and got a few things, so really just need to find shirts that fit, sans holes and stains.

Thanks BunYip! The infamous bolts are scheduled for delivery Monday, so hopefully it will be completely sorted by next weekend. I keep gazing out the window with longing, mooning like a girl with a crush, it's rather embarrassing really!
