I think this may be a new height (depth? nadir?) even for me -- am dismissing potential new therapists if they're quoting Thoreau because.....

I won't judge you for it - I'm anti-Thoreau thanks to a science teacher who was always quoting from Walden "What do I know of beans, or beans of me?"

Thoreau-ly repetitious after a bit.

I was so wiped out this weekend. Seeing potential new t was nice but it stirred up a lot. Last night I had all kinds of dreams bordering on nightmares that reflect my past. I slept a lot but I finally did grocery shopping and some laundry. Thinking about setting an appointment with the other therapist. Maybe I'll wait until September.
I'm wondering how much the limited contact outside of session will be a hinderence to my therapy Should that be a deal breaker? Growing up I did not have adults I could turn to when upset or hurt or outright abused. Having someone who is able to check in with me once in a while is so helpful. Feedback welcome!

That was my 11th grade high school english teacher's favorite quote too.

I would rejoice if the first therapist quoted Thoreau. I doubt she knows who he is.

And there's only one good beans quote in the English language:

"The problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world."

Hey couch! I went to an animist gathering this afternoon with my drumming folks, that was my kind of church service. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We were honoring Air today so there was a lot of talk about butterflies and we did deep breathing as a group and stuff. I received a very timely message from Butterfly, about transformation: "You can't keep holding onto the chrysallis." I almost cried it was so exactly what I went there to hear without even knowing it. There was more that came through for me, but I don't remember the exact words... those about the chrysallis was the part I needed to remember. To close the circle everyone chose a little bell and we rang them together. It was so beautiful and meaningful. And I hung around for some social time, and it was good - usually I leave immediately but it was nice staying and talking to everyone. I gave/got a lot of hugs today too, which added to the good feelings. These people are truly my soul family. I don't know why I don't stick around usually. I guess I'm coming out of my shell (er, chrysallis, eh?) even more lately. I'm really feeling peaceful inside myself lately and I wanted to share.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Could you maybe supplement him with online therapy?

Is this silly of me?

I have noticed neither T or PrevT use contractions when they write.
No "It's" No "I've" No "You've."

Is it bad form to be a professional and use contractions?

Just curious.

I don't know, but my t is the same way in email.... it always seems kinda jilted to me because she doesn't talk that way.

My T uses contractions. I am the one who writes more formally.

I am looking for my tribe too. I am not sure where to look but I'm happy to read when you describe finding yours.

I should be more open to exploring online therapy but the cost concerns me. Any places I should look to supplement therapy? I do worry about being able to connect with someone I don't meet in person

I had to go check, but I thought my T wrote using contractions...and she does, but she's a pretty laid back T.
Thanks for this!

Hey, that's right. T uses contractions when she talks to me. PrevT speaks more formally.

Maybe it's just their writing style or somethin'.

Huh. I guess unaluna's not professional, then.

By the way my phone autocorrects unaluna to unslung or unsound.

No, unless we're talking about what they sell at Victoria's Secret.
