I once removed a broken light bulb with a piece of potato - I was puffed up for hours. If I managed to put a piece of ikea furniture together - I can only imagine the sense of well being it would inspire.

Huh. I'm always just glad it's over.

I have one more piece to out together for now - a wing chair. Next weekend!

Just got home from a most beautiful animist ceremony over at my drumming group. It was all about "being compassion" today. Having compassion for ourselves, for each other, and for our world. We passed around the big bag of rattles again so we could make rhythm as a group, I do love that! And the 4 co-presenters shared some very meaningful and heart-felt messages. I always feel so peaceful when I leave there. It's so different from attending the particular mainstream church I grew up in, where you were only accepted if you fit yourself into their little mold. The animist group, well, they accept me whole, exactly as I am, and love all of me. It's so wonderful to finally belong somewhere.
Thanks for this!

Oh and after the service we shared vegetarian miso soup and home-made rolls. I had never had miso soup before, and it was so delicious!! I must find out how to make it. I don't know what was in it because the lights are so low in the space where we have these gatherings, but I think I saw a green bean, and something that might have been kale or something? Not sure. All's I know is it was spicy, full of veggies, and delicious!! There may be hope for me becoming a vegetarian yet.

Miso soup is pretty easy to make and there are a lot of variations on it.
The kale like stuff may well have been seaweed - wakame.

Here is a simple one:

and one with a bit more to it:

Speaking of food, is anyone here a fan of paleo eating? I'm transitioning to a paleo diet, and it's been rough so far.

Ugh, a bird just flew into my living room window. It made such a loud thud, I thought it would be at least dazed and walking in circles on the ground but no, it must have flown away, I couldn't find it anywhere. They must realize it's glass or something at the last second and pull up and hit with their body, not their head. Maybe I need to paint a big red x on the window.

I think birds must have a different kind of skull/brain arrangement. Watching a woodpecker makes my head ache. How can they just pound away like that??

combined body odor + talking noise = love

And I'm 50s at a minimum. The body decays but the love goes on.

Boss: I'm sneaky
Me: Yes. That's why I watch you so closely.
Boss: You need to trust that I'm sneaky in your favour.

Thinks: Maybe. But I'm gonna keep watching.

Mainly meat, fruit, vegetables. Yes, roots and berries too.

No wheat, legumes, dairy, grains, or sugars (but honey and real maple syrup are used). The dairy elimination is something I still have to get past. I am having a hard time parting with Greek yogurt, cheese.

I spent half the weekend in the kitchen, it seems. At least I was motivated to do something, although I still have a pile of things that continue to overwhelm me.
