The conversation I wish I had had with my psychiatrist today:

Her: Would you be able to meet 30 minutes later next week? The client before you has asked for more time. [Appointments are an hour long.]
ATAT: You mean people actually want to spend more time with you?

Fortunately this was by email, because I don't think I could have kept myself from blurting that out over the phone.
Thanks for this!

I have always wanted to go to New York and see Central Park, but I just saw a youtube video about a private park in Elizabeth St (I think ) in Little Italy that I would like to see as well.
Thanks for this!

BCM, my T is in New York right now. Bah. Humbug. What does New York have that we don't have here, I ask. (well, there is this, which I find rather wonderful, but I bet he won't see that.)

I grew up about an hour from NYC. One day in middle school two friends and I played hooky, rode our bikes 10 miles to the bus station, got on a bus to NYC, and spent all day there. Fortunately we were smart for middle schoolers and bought our return tickets on the way put BC we got our money stolen pretty quick after we got there. We still went to Central Park, FAO Schwartz and a few other places and found enough change to share a slice of pizza and a cup of water between the three of us. We were in a lot of trouble when we got home, but it was still awesome

Sorry for my whining. Internalised biphobia sucks. My LGBTphobic society sucks. I lose acquaintances (whom I know online and offline) on Facebook because I'm so relentlessly angry and pessimistic and whiny.

I'm a lousy supporter to my chosen sibling who is scheduled for gender-affirming surgery. I genuinely like all of you Couchies (hi Crocus! Have missed your posts, though I feel awkward saying it because I feel unworthy of expressing stuff sometimes) and wish I was better at being supportive.

I really appreciate your words, BlessedCheeseMaker, and all the hugs from people who consistently hug me when I whinge.

I displaced anger onto my T - basically raged at how come her bloody Doctorate in Clinical Psych didn't have a SINGLE thing about working with LGBT issues. I am seriously attached to her and she's great, but she has that view "A person is a person! LGBT or straight, we're all people!" which totally misses out on how heterosexist, cisnormative and ****ing LGBTphobic my country is.

I should make an appointment with the LGBT counseling center but I don't think I can afford a fee that's as high as my psychologist's (in public sector but still!) ANDDD my younger brother's psychotherapy with a private psychologist. I just don't have so much money!

Hi couch. Having a terrible day. Children in my head that need my help. But I can't help them. Just like that no one helped me in the worst part of my childhood. Had 2 nightmares last night. Had to leave class because the children were upsetting me. Think I have another urinary tract infection. Not having a good few days.

@BayBroni: I hope everything goes well... huggs

@QM: Why do you have to pay for your brothers therapy? Sorry if I missed something there... Sorry for what you're experiencing right now. I'm sure your T can handle your anger. From what I see here, you're not a lousy supporter at all...

@Butterfly: Hope you get well soon.. . Could you offer any distraction (walking, games, ...) to your children?

Hugs to everyone I missed, too.

I really want to fly to NY (or any other city in the USA)... It's just so damn expensive (I'm living in Europe and not even in the UK, so)

A friend once told me of the culture shock of an Aussie in new York in the 80s. She had a story of standing in a line in central park which turned out to be a queue to a drug dealer. I don't know how true that is, but it made an entertaining tale.

New York in the 80s? Would not surprise me at all.

And on an un-related note, today I made a joke about my disability for only the second time in my life. I guess that's a good thing?

She should be OK with that. And you have a valid point.

This is the "Black Lives Matter" vs "All Lives Matters" debate in a different form.

And you are right. "A person is a person" is easy and complacent answer from one who wants to pretend that discrimination does not exist.

I'll talk with her again on it. I fear I'm coming across as wanting to be a special snowflake, eek.

I've had former friends literally tell me I care too much about LGBT issues. Worst people I ever came out to.

Basically, in my country due to culture and cost of housing, unmarried adult children typically live with their parents. Three generation families are common.

My parents are fundamentalist evangelical Christians who don't believe in mental illness.

They don't know I've psychiatric diagnoses (I sought help as a young working adult) and am in treatment using the public healthcare system.

When my younger brother was 19, he asked me for help as he was suicidal. I took him to a private psychology clinic run by a psychiatrist.

He's 22 now, and in university. The university center only does short term counselling though they're actually contracted with the same psychology clinic my brother goes to.

I actually didn't realise until this year haha. At that time when he sought help from me, that was the first clinic who could see him the nearest Saturday.

Public outpatient healthcare doesn't run on Saturday's, sadly.

Granite, I doubt people mean it that way.

You're NOT tiring. What's sad is how much stress you're regularly experiencing NOT you talking about being stressed. I for one wish life would give you a break because you're a good person.
