SD that reminds me of a book (my coworker gifted me, hoping I'd learn from it) the author saying he spoke the truth and it was not his fault others were hurt by hearing it, it was just that his truth brushed against something weak within the listener. Saw red, I did! She defended the author and asked why it bothered me so much! Speaking (even if it is the truth) can still be done specifically to be hurtful!
Thanks for this!

Windows 10 has been updating for over an hour now I hope it is worth it. My hand is getting tired of holding the iPad.

Three days ago I got tangled in the dog lead and fell down my front stairs. I hit the iron railing quite hard (winded me) on the way down. Not feeling a stiff as I thougth i would be.

Am I overly picky if I quit reading a self-help book No. 2 recommended 10 pages in because the author thinks that "the pursuit of happiness" in the Declaration of Independence refers to happiness in the modern sense? Sorry, but if you have no clue what Jefferson meant you have no business giving me advice about happiness.
Thanks for this!

I'd say she needs to comp you a session or two, at the least. I mean you started a self-help book to begin with.

And, of course now you have to tell us the title or well, it'll get added to the list of incredibly important mysteries I'm yet to solve.
Thanks for this!

I know - I should get credit for even touching a self-help book!

It's Self-Compassion by Kristin Neff. If you don't care about political, historical, and philosophical accuracy you should give it a try.

I care about two out of the three. I generally despise books like that. I would think you get credit for even giving it a shot.

Hey couch! I'm back. I didn't think I'd stay away too long, I missed you guys. But I've been doing some good self-care, and started the shamanic practitioner training today, which was a wonderful experience, 7 hours spent learning, laughing, journeying, sharing, healing, supporting and being supported in a group of 8 women (no men this time, usually it's a mix...) Anyway it was just the medicine my soul needed. 6 more monthly sessions, the next one is in early November. One of the gals I practiced with today it was pretty cool, both of us in unison said "We were meant to meet today." I feel like I've known her for years and we just met this morning! I'm sure I'll be hanging out over there a lot more than I have been lately because our next session feels so far away!

Anyways ! Artie is back!

I am tempted to send this to Madame T but I'd probably only hurt myself in the process.

Thank you! Yes, it is a very healing place. I confirmed today that I have truly found the path my soul was meant for. I sort of already knew it anyway but it was nice to feel the absolute confirmation of it today. I waited a long time to discover what I am supposed to do with this one life that I have. Everything has worked together to bring me to this. And I am grateful.

My mother asked me what was SO's first impression of my parents. I judiciously said "Well, one meeting isn't long enough to know someone well."

What does SO think of my parents? I've asked him a few times - He thinks my father is a narcissistic, bullying asshole. And that my mother is a passive, can't-think-for-herself enabler who defends my father.

I feel validated. Because I have forgotten whole chunks of my life... It's always surprising and validating when I doubt my sanity and my SO and another friend remind me that they knew me in my teens (IRC was my only outlet) and I told them all about the parental beatings, and that I'd argue the beatings I experienced was all justified because of Christian Scriptures... I'm not crazy.

Hi all. Pretty anxious, just took a PRN, hope it kicks in soon. On the plus side I got a good amount of homework done.
