I know I'm a horrible cook, but this might be my crowning glory. Freshly baked frozen pizza slides off a plate at half the speed of light, heading straight for my oldest daughter's bare legs. Mom reacts at twice the speed of light, grabs the pizza with her bare hands, and coats 8 fingers in melted cheese hotter than nuclear reactors. Walked quite slowly to the sink to wash off the fires of hell, and ended up with one extremely blistered finger and a new resolve never to enter the kitchen again.

Tomorrow is my birthday, my sister wants us to go to her house to celebrate. I hibernated today so we'll probably make the trek. Hope you all have a good night, peaceful rest, and no more hangovers.

It's nearly 2 a.m., and I'm wide awake. If this was, say, 7 years ago, that wouldn't be a weird thing at all. But now that I have a kid, being awake this late on a Saturday, and not being out somewhere (since D does do overnights sometimes), is just weird.

I'm up late too. I think I know why I'm upset. Kashi asked me today what I was doing for thanksgiving. The sad answer is that I'm hundreds of miles from a family member or friend. When he asked I both hoped for and dreaded that there was the possibility that he'd invite me over. Of course that breaks all kinds of boundaries. If he invited me I would have felt trapped into a pity invite. But he didn't so I just feel alone.

Can't sleep, ugh, it's 3:30 but my brain won't shut off. Can't read anymore, the letters are blurry and jumbled. The cat is on my feet and the house is silent as a tomb. Prime conditions for unconsciousness. Come on brain, get with the program!
