My T is currently away on vacation and won't be seeing her until the 19th of Janruary. She really could not have chosen a worse time to leave me. I feel as though my whole life is falling apart. I just feel so sad and depressed I could barely get off the couch today.

Thank you for your reply. I know it's irrational but I feel angry at my T for leaving me. She should prepared me better for this break although I don't know what more she could have done.

I've had a couple of lengthy breaks like that and they seemed so mpossible, especially at the beginning. It helped me to 1. Keep busy especially evenings and weekends when I would otherwise have more time to dwell on my feelings; and 2. Journaling a lot and keeping a Running list of things I wanted to discuss with T. Many of them I resolved, or they became less intense, as time went on. That was helpful to me--to see how much I could manage on my own and what I really needed T for. Posting on here a lot helped, too.

Be kind to yourself and find other things to do - exercise is always good. And it does help to post here where people understand that we miss our T's.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.
I have been journalling quite a bit and trying to keep myself busy with little creative projects and stuff like that. I haven't really had the energy or motivation to exercise at the moment but hopefully I will soon. It is also very hot here (it is summer where I live) so that's kind of putting me off exercising too. |

Hi Retro, I'm with you on missing T & also on not making the lifestyle changes I know I should.
I've taken the opportunity to listen to a few podcasts that I find comforting - Tara Brach is one, she has a lot of wisdom, and I find her approach very soothing and calming. |

Sorry to dig up this old thread but I figured it would easier since I'm going to be writing about the same issue.
I'm still missing my T. There are 17 days to go until I see her. I really don't know how I'm going to get through it. I feel angry at T but I also feel like I really need her - it's like I want to hug her and push her away at the same time. My mother said something that invalidated my feelings (yet again) yesterday and I'm still upset about which is making me miss T more. I already have so many things to tell her that I'm afraid we'll never catch up and it's making me anxious. I go back to work tomorrow so hopefully that will distract me ![]() |

I'm sorry the therapy break is still so hard, retro chic. Work will probably help. Do you have any friends that you haven't seen in a while that you could arrange to meet? Or movies you want to see? Sometimes when I need to get through a bad spell I find a show in Netflix and try to watch it all the way through.
