I didn't realize it for about a week-not exactly sure when I stopped. So I don't know if my recent anxiety, emotional pain and not sleeping is due to that or something else. I need to contact my pdoc, probably, and ask for advice. But his daughter is dying and he is not in his office much, cancels a lot. I am quite sure I would not be able to get in to see him. Which brings me to that spot that many people here get stuck at. Do I text or email t? He would want me to. The thing is that I know he would want to help-but would he? Like can he even read an email about my brain freaking out while his 20 something daughter is losing her battle with brain cancer? And I know, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Sigh.
I think you should text or e-mail your T. When I learned my marriage counselor's wife was sick (and eventually passed away), I felt conflicted about reaching out to him about stuff, figuring he had enough personal stuff going on. Or about being critical if he did something that upset me. He still generally responded to my texts, e-mails, and phone calls. I now realize that one particularly caring e-mail response he sent me was less than a week after his wife had passed...(I didn't find out she'd died until a a couple weeks later.)

MC told me that the caring and support are supposed to just go one way (T supporting client) in therapy. He felt like he was doing something wrong because I cared about him so much, particularly regarding his wife's illness (which he hadn't intended to tell us about). MC initially told us that because I'd been hesitant to bring up how much it bothered me that he had to look at his phone during session when he got a text or call. (He did say it was OK that I cared about him and wished I could support him.)

So I'd go ahead and contact your T. He's still working (even if he is missing time here and there) and this sounds like an important issue. I'd also suggest bringing up with him in session that you were unsure about contacting him and why. I suspect he'll tell you pretty much what my MC did. The only thing I'd say is to be prepared that he might take longer than usual to respond because of outside stuff going on, and if it takes some time, it's likely about personal stuff, not about you.

(Hope this post makes sense--it's Monday morning, and I haven't had a full cup of coffee yet!)

akathisia is probably the worst thing ever.

i said F it and got in my car and just drove around. then i came home and fell asleep

i had to get up at 7am today because i have to be at court at 9am in a different county for a speeding ticket
Hugs...is there anything you can take for the akathisia? I've had it from a medication before, and it is pretty miserable. I thought I remembered when my p-doc was prescribing me a med with that as a possible side effect, she said there was something OTC I could take to counteract it, like maybe just Benadryl? (Definitely wasn't an opiate.)

Hope court goes well and that the cop doesn't show up!

Can I have some pocket riders for my appointment with Cactus Woman (5 EDT)? I so don't want to go.

You may be needed to drag me out of the car, over to the door, knock for me, and then push me through the door when she answers. After that I'll probably be OK.

@@ as a late answerer to your mini poll - I'm not sure about it either. I mean, she's charging you for these sessions, right? It seems a bit unfair to take payment and leave you hanging.

Hello couch! I slept in again, how about that...

Had a terrible migraine last night which is still lingering... hopefully well on the way out though.

It's horrible outside - freezing, windy and rainy. But I have coffee now, and extravagant snacks that I spent way too much money on.

Happy birthday Crocus!

ATAT -- Cactus' stuff about an evaluation period on her side as well is the standard pablum I've heard from all therapists I've seen. Point though is none of them actually stuck to it (or maybe I was so charming [read had cash to pay], that they took me on without any fuss).

Crocus -- many happy returns of the day! Hope it's lovely!

I'm kind of obsessed with this Conor Oberst song I just downloaded, "Afterthought." He's someone whose music I either love or hate, but happen to love this one.

I mean:
"The streets were so crowded with billboards and signs
Food trucks double parked in their parallel lines
I thought about breakfast but settled on wine
Always choose hunger over despair
And what's possible over what's there."

Saw him live once when I was younger. So many kids packed around an indoor stage-one of them passed out...conor was so drunk he couldn't sing

He just name-checked Oliver Sacks in the song I'm listening to... Hah! I can honestly say I have never heard my favourite neurologist mentioned in a song before...

ETA the lyrics (though they're so harsh I feel they need a trigger tag...)

Possible trigger:

Happy Birthday Crocus! Your healing dance didn't work and I am home sick, hence missing therapy tonight My T did call and talk to me for half an hour, so I do feel a bit better.
