Because it looks like the stress of the change is being expressed in their gaining weight. Thats why it bothers me. Its kind of a big deal that he left the show. For myself, i am starting to look at non-hunger eating - eating to avoid emotions or stress - and im extrapolating that thats what happened with them.

Eta - im just sayin, i feel their pain.

Una -- I just read an interview with Roxane Gay who's come out with a new book (don't think it's available as yet) called 'Hunger: a memoir of my body'. Even just the interview really spoke to me.

ETA: I am considering talking to current T about it (she specializes in eating disorders and while I don't believe I have one, I do have some general issues around having a basic routine etc). Then again, sometimes her responses to stuff I'm excited about make me wanna go head--->wall.

Hello Butterfly!

I am... really tired (as usual) and thinking about T (as usual) and trying to catch up on PMs from people (as usual)... so... I guess that's not much either, really!

ETA means 'Edited To Add'. 'Cos I hadn't seen Art's post when I originally added my comment.

I don't think anyone got upset coz of it.

Sparked a nice discussion, I'd say.

Also, I highly doubt -- given all that's been discussed on the Couch -- if anything could really be considered off-limits.

I dunno, I haven't seen any discussions of favorite...positions, say.

And nobody seems to want to talk about baseball.

But, maybe that's on this week's agenda?

Shall we get going, madame? I did go only to schools run by....missionaries.

(I know, I know, that's just a bad one but chalk it up to insufficient coffee.)

As for baseball -- I'd like to believe that you can see the larger lesson here, ATAT about ahem......baseball.......uhhh......not exactly inspiring much by way of passion?

I blame it largely on the odd shape of the trousers worn by the players -- I mean, come on, how do we take them seriously?

Then again, I may not be the best judge of male pulchritude.

Oh, we're going to do this in code? Okay then...did your missionaries ever sing "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot?"

Seriously don't see whatever it is that bothers you about baseball pants. D'you want them to wear football-player spandex instead?

Eta: una - Roxane Gay - Bad Feminist, maybe?

An older man and I were seated next to each other watching the world cup at a bar.
X: "you a soccer fan?"
A: "yeah I love it!"
X: "me too! But usually I only watch women's soccer. Men's doesn't do it much for me, I just don't find it interesting."
A: "ohhh really? That's funny, I only really watch men's for the same reason."

If it's for ogling purposes, then yes, football player spandex, please I feel like baseball pants are the sports equivalent of mom jeans. Making them look less attractive than they actually are.

As for the other part, uh, sometimes on the metro, I do take a seat if a guy offers to stand.

I am also having migraines again; mine started in the beginning of this year for no obvious reason. I had my first at age 7 (my parents thought I just didn't want to go to school and was lying about having a headache).
I started taking topamax 10 years ago, which helped tremendously. A few years ago it stopped helping as much, but then I started seeing my chiropractor, which worked wonders, but is helping much less now.
Do you mind if I ask what you did to bring the frequency of yours down?
I am sorry you are suffering again; migraines suck.

I got my first one on the way home from school. My mom told me it was a headache and that they're normal, some people just get them every day and I was one of them and they'll never go away. So that's what I believed and that was that.

A couple years ago I went to a neurologist for other reasons and she asked if I got headaches. I was like "yeah, you know, just the normal everyday kind" and she hit the ****ing ceiling. She laid it straight for me, they're not normal, they shouldn't be every day, and what I had were migraines, not headaches.

So she gave me three ideas to help cut down on the frequency:
1. An herbal supplement called butterburr-- highly effective, there's a specific long-term taper plan for it after which it can be used as needed, but if the extract isn't processed to remove a certain compound then it's carcinogenic. She recommended the Vitanica brand to me which is certified not to contain this compound. You can pm me if you want details. It worked for me very well. It turns your pee a silly color.
2. A sheet of possible food triggers to eliminate- for me it turned out to be caffeine, raw garlic and raw onions.
3. She told me, and this was related to my original reason for seeing her, that she's seen patients discover that the symptoms they present with are not a neurological disorder but are rather a physical response to repressed psychological traumas. So I decided to explore this, which brought me to my most recent therapy adventure.

The butterbur/food stuff cut the migraines down from daily to maybe one a week, over the course of about three months. Beginning trauma work cut it down further to what it's been most recently, a very rare occurrence.

Not sure what's causing the relapse. I suspect it might be trauma related, last week's session was pretty intense.

Your missionaries were......fast

Mine mostly stuck to stentoriously holding forth (in an all-girls Catholic school) on how if any of our classmates asked us to be alone with them, we shouldn't ever agree because it would lead to all kinds of very very bad things. I assiduously listened to their advice........while holding my girlfriend's hand.

As for the general attractiveness (or the umm...severe lack thereof) of baseball uniforms -- I think LT and aa have said all that is to be said. I rest my case.

My T had an eating disorder for about 10 years, and I think she specializes in it too, especially in teens...and I don't have one per se, but have weird issues with food, which I refuse to discuss with her, and she knows it
