The whole county is about the same price renting room wise. And my county is over 70 miles long.

Those of you who record therapy sessions - do you use a separate voice recorder or an app on your phone? Recommendations? (I used to have a Sony but can't find it, and last I remember seeing it I loaned it to future ex.)

The setting is No. 3's office and will have traffic (busy shopping street) and train noise in the background outside.

Oh, and yes I have permission.

Darn. Well, could you hang in there for another month or so at the higher rate and maybe look for work as a live-in in exchange for room and board? In my area, there's a program that matches seniors who have a home and need some help with people who need a home and who can help. Maybe there is someone that just needs someone to sleep overnight. I did that once, many many years ago. It was perfect for what I could do at the time. Low stress, we each got our needs met.

Pulling for you.
Thanks for this!

Getting everything together to send to the public housing authority and see where I would be on the waitlist (if there is one and there probably is). May look into section 8 housing that is not public housing since my income is low enough for that here even with 2 jobs. Around here I think it is below 32000 a year to qualify. I am definitely below that. I have also looked into apts but they have skyrocketed since I last rented one. Most one bedrooms are going for 1000+ a month. That would be worse than staying here financially.

The homeless camp is looking rather tempting now. It would be a step up from living in my car. If it wasn't illegal here, I would rent a storage unit and live in that.

I use a Zoom H6 Handy recorder that I already had. It's not cheap if you only want it for sessions, but I love it because I can put it right next to my therapist and it picks up everything she says regardless of outside noise and traffic/construction. It uses a memory card, so I just pull the card out and put it into my computer to play. With headphones, it's great quality and not distracting. Using a computer to playback, I can skip over my voice when I go on and on and search for whatever it was I had forgotten.

ETA: I had to use my phone once and it was crap. The background noise was too overwhelming and I didn't get the same feeling as being there.
Thanks for this!

I've never recorded a therapy session. Personally I'd ask your t for a recommendation, maybe he/she will know what other clients do.

That is great you can still see the beauty of the world. Even at my lowest points, I always notice the beauty around me, and it doesn't help I live in a pretty area.

I am lazy and would probably research a good app to use on my phone. Maybe just put it nearer to T, if that is where it is louder?
Thanks for this!

My meds are not addictive. None of them are. When I say prn I mean a low dose seroquel

oh, good! I take Seroquel for sleep, but does it help anxiety? What is your dosage? Just curious because I never knew it could be used to calm one down. I could have used that tuesday morning when I went to the hospital!

I take Seroquel for sleep, but also for anxiety/intrusive thoughts too. It's my emergency med. I take it as needed. 25-75mg. Haven't needed 75mg since I was hospitalized last year, though.

I use Notability. It works great. We even used it to tape mds for my person because - although I always took notes - it helped her to have the appointments where she could hear them again.

Have you figured out how long you could afford to stay? Or have you told her youre going to leave? Maybe you can get get more help on your meds or t or pdoc visits.

I cannot afford to stay more than one month at that price. And one month will almost wipe out my savings. I have not said I am leaving yet, I want to find somewhere first, so she doesn't find someone tomorrow and say I have to be out the first.

I have my FSA card to pay for my T copays and pdoc copays and meds that are available in generic and affordable. I am waiting to hear back from the copay assistance for the injection still, hopefully I will know that on Monday or Tuesday. So, I really can't save much there, as it is not coming out of my bank account.

I wish I lived in an area where there was housing for those with mental health issues, but unfortunately there is not anywhere near me, or in my state at all that I know of. I may email pdoc and ask if he knows of anywhere that provides assistance for people with a mental health diagnosis. It's worth a try.

Would you consider applying to doc john here at pc for emergency funding? If you could get like a thousand or so, then you could tell your landlady you are staying, because that would cover you for the next 3 months, and hopefully by then you will have a new school job, or at least it will buy you some breathing room. So you dont have to worry like THIS MINUTE.

Then maybe you could find other places in florida where your licenses would still be valid that arent so pricey? Idk.
Thanks for this!

the man, he invited me last week. and told me about it. told me if it gets too loud to let him know. i said that's not a problem

so yeah he said they were starting in the AM with donuts and coffee. they got pretty drunk eventually, i went out at 2am last night to have a smoke and i heard them yelling , i heard his wife SHHHHUSHING him, haha. now its 8:30AM and some of them must have stayed over... im watching them scramble around cloaked in blankets thru my bedroom window

Hey couch! I miss you all. I just wanted to come on here and give an update. My break from PC is going to be indefinite, I was spending way too much time here, and whining way too much, and in the past couple weeks I have made some decisions. One is that, I am no longer allowing myself to blame other people or the past or circumstances or whatever for who and what I am. That was all before. I am taking responsibility for who and what I am now – it's on me – and that means I have also realized that my owning the stuff I don't like about myself, in order to change it, I get to own the GOOD stuff too and I am damn proud of all the hard work I have done in my therapy over the past 5.5 years!! I believe, you guys, that I have finally grown up. I am no longer emotionally 15. And that feels good. And strong. And positive. And speaking of therapy, t and I have officially begun my termination phase, mutually agreed upon even. How about that? And I'd been convinced that she would never say it was time.

Anyway, I'm not deleting my account or anything, I want to be able to come back from time to time and check in with everybody. But for right now, I'm gonna go back to being on a PC break. I hope everyone is well, I wish you all the very best in your own therapy adventures, healing love and light to everyone.

Artie out! (for now)

I'm not sure how I feel about that. I guess it is something I can think about. If I were to go that route, how would I do it? Is there a link or something? Not sure if I would be comfortable going this route, but I will give it some thought. I am just a little POed that she is doing this and don't know if I would be comfortable staying even if I had the funds.
