OR that I have suppressed the camera trauma.
It was not so much traumatic as just not something we usually thought about. By the time my family remembered where the cameral was and how to work it, the moment was long gone. To this day I rarely remember I have a camera on my phone until hours after anything where I might have used a camera. Most pictures of my pets, and certainly any decent pictures of them, have been taken by my picture taking obsessed friends

Yeah, mine used to be like that... One alligator, two alligator, three alligator, stop before you get maimed. But lately she has taken a liking to it.

Velcro, thanks for the support. I wouldn't exactly say I have money for the PhD--but from what I've read, if I'm a research assistant or TA, I can likely get tuition covered plus a decent living stipend. The one place automatically covers 75% of your tuition once you're officially a candidate (like when you're working on your dissertation), in addition to other funding.

I'm debating whether it makes sense to try for it, but figure I need to take the steps, like getting recommendations, taking GREs, etc., and then if I change my mind or find a job in the field, then I could decide not to go--assuming I get accepted of course! But if I don't take the steps, then I can't do it. Plus it gives me a goal to focus on, which I'm sort of lacking right now (lots of really short-term freelance projects, but nothing long-term).

This is all my T's fault, for saying she always thought I'd be good in research and academia...and for reminding me how I seemed like a different person when I was in grad school and especially during an internship for it...

I have never connected my health issues with lack of vitamins, I can nurse others just not myself.

Just got an invite to a Girls Weekend for a group of us that used to work together at WilTel in the olden days of the early 1990's. I miss those gals SO much!! We got together a couple years ago and it was so much fun. I put the date in my purse already so I'll have it ready on Monday morning to schedule a couple-3 days off work so I can go! it's back in Missouri so time to start looking for affordable flights as well!! Ahhhh I can't wait to see them all again!! It'll be about a month from now.

eta: I'm tempted to drive into the office right this minute just to go schedule the days off!!
Thanks for this!

I got up to take out the trash and I was greeted by this. He then proceeded to follow me around the apartment and is now meowing at the bedroom door. The Couch 148: Boby

I was talking to my therapist about places to live because it's getting too congested where I live now. At one point, she mentioned someplace in bumblefuk nowhere and added that there used to be a pdoc there who was well known at the time for her expertise in dissociation. It turned out that I had actually been referred to that pdoc about 20 years ago and couldn't stand her. My therapist said that people who saw her loved that she would smoke with them. I said that sounded manipulative. My therapist disagreed.

Does anyone else think it's manipulative? Like, trying to make people think they're just hanging out, meanwhile the pdoc is being controlling and plotsy?

I saw a woman walking her dog on a leash, while her cat trotted ahead off leash. Cats know their business.

I don't know if manipulative is the word I would use, but that kind of thing always makes me very suspicious of someone and I question their motives. Any time a professional tries to be "friends" in a professional context it bugs me.

One time L and I were discussing non-prescription anxiety remedies and she brought up weed.... too bad, I told her I'm one of those people who get through-the-roof paranoia with it. She said she would have given me a bit "for the road." Hah.

She would be a neat lady to smoke with, but I doubt that would have been part of the deal. And I probably would have declined if it came to it.

Unrelated: L has a tiny red cardinal figurine made of feathers and I WANT IT

It only comes out during christmas. The cardinal was one of only two times we've ever talked about "her" stuff: once when she list her scheduling book and was devastated, and I had to comfort her a bit and encourage her to move on and buy a new one. The other about this cardinal, she's jewish and had never decorated for christmas before and she really needed someone to tell her it was ok to put up a few decorations.

I don't care for vodka, but I still would like to share a glass of wine with t. Even in our current state. Maybe especially in our current state. I think we both need to loosen up a little.
