Agreed, agreed.

Yep, we had a session last week in the snow -- Blondie had been reliably informed then by the client right before me that there was only a 20% chance of snow.

Given when it started snowing, there's no way that the client could've shown up before it started snowing.

Plus, Blondie has windows.

So, I guess she un-Blondie-d herself somehow this time around? (Or, safer explanation -- it's supposed to snow tomorrow morning rather than evening like last time and so, I suppose, Blondie will be verifying the snow for herself.)
Thanks for this!

Eta - cuz first i saw this loooong lightning, and i was like, wth? Was that the med-evacs? Some kids fooling around? Then quite a while later i heard the "thunder" which i now understand was a sonic boom.

We finally have some sun here today but the temps are still in the single digits. The cat gets pissed off at me every time he tries to go outside.

Wow, my uncle is hard-core. He works an hour away from home, and my aunt was just telling me that he rented a 4-wheel drive vehicle plus packed a bag in case he gets stuck there. He's the director of something-or-other where he works (note my keen attention to detail), so I guess he feels like he needs to go.

A lot of times, i would stay at a motel near my work rather than drive home (also an hour away) in a blizzard. Then i would still manage to be late the next morning. I couldnt win for losing.

When I used to live in Missouri and it snowed/iced, they'd put a bunch of us up at a nearby hotel so we could make it back to work the next morning. We'd almost all be late even still cuz we'd party all night in the hotel bar... Ah, youth....

I am feeling so outside of myself the last day or 2. I don't quite know how to describe it. Not really a bad feeling, just really odd. Very self-observational, witness-y, I dunno.

I have that sometimes too, Art. Weird, dissociative thing. Almost like a passenger in your own body...

If I had an idea, I probably wouldn't feel so bad. Everything's up in the air at the moment, and I am worried about my ability to approach this tactfully when we do meet again. (Or 'if', as my ever-helpful brain would have it...)

There's no two ways about it, being left high and dry during this most difficult season of my year really freaking sucks.

You gotta have some burnout. Youre doing tons better than last year, but it still has to be messing with your head.

Your weekly Info update!

Sartorial report: hot pink go-go boots.

Nothing zany was said or done, alas.

But in the waiting area in the foyer I saw another therapist have two clients show up at once. Much confusion, until it turned out one client was an hour early.

In the how-did-I-never-know-this frame, I was talking with T3 last night about my feelings when H hugged and held me after I learned that my college roommate's husband had died. He was 55, in good health. After just a few moments, I didn't want to be hugged anymore, like really didn't want to be hugged. And we were talking about that.

She said that a hug in those circumstances says to the hugee that they are not alone with their feelings and gives them a safe place to grieve. I totally did not know that. I thought hugs were to express affection and to make you feel better. I didn't know that they were containment and acceptance like that. Even though she said that last night, I didn't get it until after brain spotting the event and then getting a good nights sleep.

I feel kind of dumb about this. Who knew?

Interesting therapist maneuver today. Things got rather intense in the last few minutes of our session. While I was hiding my face and crying, he turned the clock around so I couldn't see it.

ETA: He has one on the wall behind the sofa that he can see, but he also has one on the table next to the chair that I can see.

I assume he did it because he didn't want me to worry about what time it was. I knew we were probably over time at that point. I try to pay attention to the time and be prompt in leaving even if I'm upset. It felt nice to not have to worry and let him decide when the session was over. I think we went over about 7 minutes or so.
