So h just called he got a long-distance job today to take a package to Las Vegas, he just made the delivery and is now headed to Laughlin (in NV too, but about an hour closer to home) and I booked him a room there for the night. He didn't want to stay in Vegas (imagine that, I'm shocked!!!!). The company he works for always charges the client enough extra to cover a hotel room for the driver for long distance jobs like this one, so he always finds cheap rooms lol I found him one for $25 at one of the casinos there and just booked it for him. I imagine he'll end up staying tomorrow night too and coming home Saturday, I would if I was him. Depends on how much the rooms go up to on Friday night, I imagine, so he might or might not. If he does stay, I'm taking myself out to dinner tomorrow after work cuz payday!

So I've got the other 5 jurors figured out for my story, now I just have to decide what they are deliberating about. Could be any number of therapeutic topics.... heh

Cherry cola Oreos...major ehhhhhhh.

They certainly don't taste like cherry cola. One of my friends/partners in junk food crime says chapstick, but chapstick would be an improvement over this.

This DBT place has a 26! page form that I have to read and fill out before the intake appointment. That seems excessive. I wish I didn't feel like I was being coerced into going to this place. Intake next Wednesday.

ETA: I know he cares but I still feel coerced at this point because of the things he's said to me.

I thought this was an interesting description/explanation of the parts of the personality types

Update to my post about yesterday's session where T said, "I'm a lot older than you, honey." I e-mailed him about it this morning. He sent a really thoughtful reply where he apologized for the "honey" thing, saying he'd meant to be humorous, but in reading it typed out, he realizes how it may have sounded. And that he hoped I'd accept his apology (and he'd be more mindful of such things in the future). He also said with the age thing, he knows how old I am, but for him, being almost 50 seems a long way from 40. But how that's his issue, so he'll be more mindful of that in future sessions.

He also brought up a good insight that I think is much of what's really behind my being bothered by the age thing: "I think your feelings on this matter reflect your deep fears/concerns about not being heard, known, or understood. 'how can he know me if he doesn't even know how old I am?' I think that this deserves additional conversation." That rang true for me, so will be a good topic of discussion Monday.

Nice LT. I'm glad he could see the errors of what he said and take ownership. It really makes such a difference! I can also see how 'honey' could be used by someone trying to be humorous but not land so well in reality

That is a really thoughtful response, LT. I knew I liked him for a reason

Hello, couch. Hope everyone is doing well. Positive feelings and affirmations to all who want them. I don't have the energy to catch up on what I've missed. Been kind of avoiding the couch. Going through another "I don't feel like I belong here" phase. Also my life is a dumpster fire at present. Don't really want to talk about why.

But I see T for the first time in 3 weeks here in an hour and 20 minutes. Any positive vibes my way would be appreciated.

Ugh the 'children' that sit behind me at work are on my last nerve today. The one that snorts when she laughs is in rare form today, more snorts than laughing. Then this guy is over there making random loud robot noises with his mouth and the rest are talking loudly about non work related stuff. I have work to get done and can't focus. Somebody get these kids off my lawn.

My boss is looking into getting me moved somewhere quiet since I can't work at home. Which in itself is unfair but whatever.

In the meantime how do the rest of y'all deal with annoyingly loud co-workers? My noise-cancelling headphones only help a little.

I press the “mute” button on my hearing aids. It’s like the only advantage of wearing them.

Although wearing them also qualifies me as a cyborg.

Wish I had advice, Art. Typically I'm the annoyingly loud coworker. Devil's advocate: they may not realize it's bothersome. I find it really helpful when people tell me I'm being loud.

I just learnt of the existence of the US Presidential Culinary History Museum — Presidential Culinary Museum

I want to know who would’ve won if culinary aesthetics were a consideration in presidential campaigns.

Also, (since I haven’t been able to get this out of my head) Blondie seems to have a nicely dark and twisted side — she wrote poetry about hot olive oil spattering on fair skin and soothing anxiety; and, a mother’s scissors used where a comb can’t get through.

I have newfound respect for her.....twisted-ness.

Will talk about it more on the in session thread but today's session was good. Very productive. Also gave Bubbles to demonstrate caring. See him on Tuesday to help me through a very stressful situation.

Trader Joe's Chocolate Babka is delicious. Not like true new york babka perhaps, but delicious all the same. I was craving chocolate today (something that is very rare for me - it used to signal that my period was about to start because it was the only time I ate chocolate) and bought one while I was out. It will last a long time because it is very rich. But yummy
