AY—it’s the passive-aggressiveness of someone who needs to think well of themselves and can’t abide the thought that they might be in the wrong, so they do something like “offer” to help.

Yeah, she should know better at her age, but she doesn’t. I’m not sure anyone ever actually matures.

AY--your neighbor's behavior is abysmal. And, yes, she has honed her skills. But I would be tempted to tell her the actual cost and say you would appreciate her payment in recognition of her responsibility to control her dogs. I guarantee you she will never actually make the payment. She will have 100 excuses if asked further.
Thanks for this!

And after dentist and gym and cleaning and a nap, I’ve shocked myself by sitting down to work on a fall syllabus that needs a major overhaul. And I have yoga soon.

I have never been this productive on the first day of summer before. Maybe I have an earworm?

Now I am worried about you. Except for the nap. I approve of the nap.

Just got my fertility gemstone bracelet in the mail. It's beautiful! I hope it helps! My H's semen test came back above normal, and my progesterone levels are high. So now it's a waiting game. On month 10

Still nothing from PhD program. Grr...Figuring the worst. They'd let me know if I was rejected, right? When I mentioned that to T today, he seemed uncertain they'd let me know. But, I mean, if I was there for 5 hours of interviews, the least they could do is send me an e-mail to let me know I'm rejected, right?

We have our last committee meeting for admitting students next week. It could depend upon how many other candidates they are interviewing and when all the interviews are completed. For example, we will be deciding on our last set of candidates for a program that has only one slot left but several candidates. So we will be slugging it out in the committee next week. As far as I know, we let all applicants know the final decision.

well, would be for a PhD in Public Health. So, yeah, would have "Dr." before my name, but not like a medical doctor or anything. of course, I'd need to get accepted first...

Thanks, that's helpful to know. They only take a few candidates (like 2-4), but no idea how many people they interviewed or if they've admitted anyone already.

You know, you can contact them. Say you need to know so as to make plans (child care, etc.).

My experience in academia suggests that yes, rejections are ultimately sent out, but it may not happen until everything is set in stone (i.e., offers have been accepted officially).

Hang tough.
