That is a pretty sweet gig, Jersey. I used to work in a similar job, and secretly loved when the father would go out of town. He paid me even when I slept, and their bed was way more comfortable than mine is.

Indeed.

And as I just discovered, the Japanese also have a word for my long-standing malady — buying books and then never reading them (tsundoku).

Oh my— that’s a problem of mine, too! If only the body didn’t require sleep, I’d get so much more reading done.

Yep. When I first started this line of work...I was a nanny for a family that used to go out of town a lot. I loved having their whole big house to myself. These people don’t go out of town, but it’s still nice sitting here getting paid to sit with sleeping kids. And I’m greedy so I don’t cut my rate because they are sleeping.

Who uses Tapatalk app for this forum? Have you always had annoying ads in the middle of threads or is this a new thing? I just started getting them and I can now understand why people would pay a subscription feed to get rid of them!! Ugh.

Hi couch Couch 173: The Odiferous One

That full moon had some weird energy attached to it. I'm glad it's over. I'd been so super emotional from a few days before it through last night. Crazy thing was it was monsooning last night and I couldn't even SEE the stupid thing!!

Sorry, Scarlet.

I really enjoyed the lunar eclipse! Only watched it for a few minutes, but even as a physicist I was still amazed by the fact that you could see the Earth shadow on the moon. It puts the size of our planet into perspective. Maybe I have been brainwashed to like astronomy by my professors...

I probably will regret this, but...

Drinking the Kool-Aide comes from the People's Temple of Jim Jones in Guyana (I think) many years ago. He supplied the drink with poison in it when he had decided that everyone in the Temple needed to commit suicide. Because of his influence, many people did drink the Kool-Aide, after giving it to their children, etc.

Some people refused the Kool-Aide and were shot by other high-ups of the Temple.

The reference is to how you can convince people to do something horrible if they believe in you enough.

Adorable cat Art!

Attempted to go to the farmer's market but it was a lot of walking and I wasn't up to it due to having an infection. Now I'm sad since there's nothing else to do today. At least I've got leftover Chinese takeout from last night.

Artie - Maybe she thought they were her kittens?

Pachy - thanks for the clarification. You guys know how non-confrontational i am. Im still recovering just from reading that other watered down fake news definition. P.s. you do realize how thrilled i was to find a kindred digital spirit in that other thread? I wasnt talking about "panning" for gold...

Penelope is such a cutie- I love how colorful her coat is! But judging from her look the socks are hers and it's you that's been stealing them.
