Its just that its opposite of how we were raised. Like supermans opposite world. Down is up, hello is goodbye. Its not a matter of worthy, imo? Its a lie that you have to be worthy to get it. To some people it is freely given. Its the luck of the draw. What is the difference between a trump grandchild and a child at the border? Same soul worthiness. Same for anybody.

This is what today's parenting idiocy has created.

I had a student one time tell me he missed his appointment with me because he could not remember what number my office was.
Somehow the big board at the front of the school with all faculty listed with office numbers right next to it escaped him. Or asking at the front desk. Or looking it up on the internet at my signature in my email to him setting up the appointment.

That is too dumb to be in collitch, idnt it?

I did refuse to reschedule that one

Um Una It's obviously not the stooodentz fault. Remembering a single or or two digit number is pretty hard work these days. I hope his mother called in on his behalf or kicked up a fuss to allow him/her to reschedule with someone else .

Also these days we get more parents coming with their children to the start of law school and med school. Parents are incredibly involved in the school visits and application process. My person was on the pre-med advising board at our school and her stories of parents sounded like something from the twilight zone to me until I started teaching.

My building has four floors above ground and a basement level that also has classrooms. The basement level has room 2. Students always assumed that meant second floor, so signs are now posted. But now they think that means all room numbers that start with 2 are in the basement.

Oh wow. I shouldn't be surprised because it's not that long since I've been out of Uni and I have a prof friend that keeps me up to date on random student antics but somehow now and again I'm still surprised. Obviously the appointment must not have been that important to the student or else he would have figured it out!

Oh I know it's real. There's one girl who was in my friendship group whose mother lived with her and literally caused a lot of problems. I honestly hated her, because she took interfering on a whole new level and would come down to ask for notes and actually also arrange times for my ex best friends to visit her daughter instead of her contacting them herself .

Thinking back I don't miss all that drama.

Maybe start with "I wanted to turn up and pick a fight with you."

Ugh, I have a stupid annoying migraine. I turned the lights off in my office. I've taken two types of medication and now I feel sick from the medication too.
