I'm cancelling my sessions with R this week.

Think I've reached a new low and I just want to be alone.

EDIT: It's 10.43pm where I am. Goodnight couchies!

Oddly enough I have last goodbye by Jeff buckley playing:

I found cancelling useful. It gives one time to regroup and reinforce

H has been staying out of the hospital! He's finally realizing that they can't do any more for him. Sadly, his 2 cardiologists have had enough of him and they basically told him not to come back.

I think that's progress!

I wonder if he would have quit going if they'd said that outright earlier.

And below that are people that I have a lot of respect for.

Is this a low number of heroes? It seems low given how often the words hero and heroism get thrown around.
I have no heroes, nor anyone I really look up to.

Then I have to figure out what seems fair monetarily to offer him. Nothing? Something? I have no idea. What if my offer just pisses him off and now he's sitting in prison plotting his revenge? What if he decides to fight me and drags me to court? Can he even do that from prison? Does he have access to legal services in prison? I can't deal with all this.
He probably has access to legal services, I think. I have no clue. But if you don't have to give him money, then no way!

Can I also suggest you stop and consider the progress you’ve made? Just a few months ago you didn’t even want to think about divorce and you blamed yourself. Now you’re talking about divorce and last week you called him an asshole. I know you still feel like crap and I don’t mean to minimize that, but these are good steps forward.
Agreed to all of these points.

I'm starting to consider seeing a second therapist and have brought this up with the one I see. She thinks it's a good idea, but says many won't see someone who's actively seeing another therapist. She did add that they might do it because of my history, though. It's a difficult thing to navigate. I know others have more than one therapist and some see them for different reasons, which I think would help keep it from becoming a messy situation. But I wonder how it would work if there was, in fact, crossover in terms of what's talked about. It may be a moot point if I can't find a second one. I'll be talking to my therapist more about it this coming week, but would love to hear how it's worked for others.

I did not find seeing two of them difficult to navigate. I never discussed one therapist with the other. I went in and talked to the first about what I had discovered she was better at handling and talked to the second about what she was better at. It was not confusing or upsetting to me in any way. For me, seeing two of them was the only way it was possible to tolerate therapy in any fashion.

Sometimes it was about different things and sometimes it was about different parts of the same thing. Sometimes it was about the same thing when I was not certain which would be the better one to use that thing for.

I am late to the hero discussion. I am one that probably overuses it, not so much for well known people but for everyday people I meet or work with or hear about. Sometimes, it's for acts that span years or more (changing policies against all odds) and sometimes it's for how they lived their lives (so more about their charitable qualities). Philando Castile was the first that came to mind, not for the horrible way he died but for the way he lived, the light and hope and graciousness he brought to the kids at the school where he worked. I regret learning about people like Philando because of their death, but part of what makes them heroic to me is that they do these things without any pursuit of fame or status or power.

I also don't limit my heroes to people. The grieving whale who carried her deceased offspring for weeks is a hero to me because she is forcing many more people to consider our devastating impact on oceans and wildlife. She did not do it for us, of course, but she is a hero to me. So that's one of many reasons why I admit I assign hero status more liberally than most.

That doesn't prove that they weren't lovers. It was four-in-a-bed, as I remember. With the men in the middle.

And "the modern sense of the word" is extraordinarily flexible.

PS: Perhaps the real answer is that Homer didn't care whether they were or not.
