I'm just going to dump my annoyance at my H here. Hope nobody minds me whinging.
We are organising a fairly large party. I have organised a family member to cater and I am going to get some additional food which I am ordering this week. Apparently my in laws offered to pick up some food and unbeknownst to me, H said yes. They sent a message to group WhatsApp saying what food should they get for the party and I said "It's fine, food is sorted". Note - they can be quite controlling and presumptuous, not through any maliciousness, just through a lack of self-awareness.

So H said why did you say no to my parents they just want to pick some stuff up. I said because food is sorted. Then he is making out like I have an issue with his parents and that I'm being a control freak about stuff. It's such utter bollocks. I realise this is totally trivial but it's just annoyed me and I have nowhere else to vent.

I did not realise he had already said yes to them getting stuff and I don't see why I am controlling just because I want to choose my own damn food for the party I'm hosting.

Welcome to ye old couch. We're open 365 days a year. Come rain or shine.

I don't think you're whinging at all and sometimes it's the "small" stuff that can really get to us. Yup I've cried about spilling milk all over my floor. I'd give him space to cool down then tell him it isn't about saying no to his parents specifically. It's your party you should get to pick the food.

If they bring it up again. I'd thank them for their kind offer, but say it's already been arranged.

If you can stand one more, here's a little bit of water in the bottom of the canyon... I guess you could call this an itty-bitty waterfall?

I'm literally lying on my couch right now. Doing nothing today but cleaning and hanging out at home. H had to work today, and the weather isn't nice enough to go to the pool for the last day of the season...though I don't think I could handle 4 kids at the pool myself. Wanted to do something fun today since my daughter starts preschool tomorrow but now I'm being lazy and letting them all play on their electronics.

Thanks for the pictures, Art. Did you have a chance to talk to your husband about the thing you'd hoped to talk about?

I’m thinking about dropping my English class. Partly time, partly maybe I’m just a persnickety Virgo but I cannot regress mentally to fourth grade and write book reports on everything we read or watch without analyzing them too, and then a wee smidgen that he keeps talking about James LeBron.

On the other hand I now see why some of my upperclass students call my courses their first real college courses.

I just watched a 1935 movie, was it Bride of Frankenstein?

The movie posting on imdb for "The Drunkard" listed the actor as "george stuart". But at the closing credits, it did list buster keaton as playing "William". I didnt see the opening credits on the actual movie, but keaton is unmistakeable!

No, not yet... I'm a little disappointed that I didn't but, at the same time it was a tougher hike than we've done before so... it's all good. We got along well though and had fun. Something along the lines of what I wanted to talk about did come up so that'll be where I start next time I get him away from the tv... He's on a job this afternoon.

I've just started reading Stephen Fry's retelling of Greek Myths. I'm finding it quite amusing and charming. It's the first time I've picked up a non-therapy related book in ages and it feels good to do so.

I have misunderstood so many things about my therapist and what she has been encouraging me to do/think about/work toward, even though she had explained it over and over and over and over. It finally happened, though. I get it now. I have been writing it all down so that I don't lose this momentum.

I'm glad for you, ruh roh. Sometimes my t has to say things over and over and over to me too before I finally 'get it'. I don't know how she can have such infinite patience with me sometimes!

I think I am going to explode in rage at the therapist. My mind is spinning, thinking of possible ways to get back at her. None of them are satisfactory. I am such a fool for getting into this situation.
