I just had an accident, everything is ok no one was hurt but i am in shock. I was driving along when i suddenly lost power and my power steering locked briefly and we clipped the car coming the other way. My car just lost its wing mirror and indicator light and has a bit of a graze. I am not insured and wondering how i am going to pay the mechanic and panel beaters. This is why you should never get too happy.

Glad you're safe, BCM! That sounds really scary! I wonder if the mechanic could have a payment plan or something?

I am back to thinking math is evil.

Cannot understand how to find the mean and standard deviation with two X values and their corresponding z scores. Asking boss today for half a day off to go to tutoring center again. Feel so stupid!

i somehow finished my homework. finally. just now. it was "only" 5 problems left, unfortunately each of the 5 problems had multiple parts (like an a, b, c and d). I am in over my head. i drew the distribution, but totally guessed at the mean and standard deviation. i have no clue.

the study group i joined turned out to be one guy posting the answers he got on a free forum he created. i am not in it anymore. i don't want to cheat. i'm going to try to get a different group together. and may take half a day off work and go over to the tutoring center later in the week for help. our 2nd exam will be handed out tomorrow and then due a week from tomorrow. what have i done taking this class????? i thought i was doing ok until this homework....
Hi Art. First breathe. You can do this. Second take it one step at a time. Math is really logical when you get down to it. Three breathe again. Four a question I often ask myself is "Is this going to matter in 10 years?" Yes passing the class matters, but this moment of stressing out about the problems is not going to matter. Five do you review the homework problems in class? If not is that something you can ask the prof about? In my second stats class we actually did the problems the old fashioned way--on the board. I always had to do the "hard" ones because I was bored in the class but it really worked for those problems you didn't understand. Working them out on the board in front of everyone really helped you understand it and the prof was there if we got stuck of course. Six breathe again. Seven know I believe in you. You CAN do this. Kit.
Thanks for this!

You aren't stupid. You just have a mental block right now, but you can get through this. ((hugs))

Artie you're doing the best that you can.

Asking for help doesn't mean that you're stupid. It's best to make 100 mistakes now when you can see where you're going wrong rather than seeing it if it comes up in the the exam.

Anyone here on remeron/mirtazapine? Just got prescribed it by pdoc. Am a bit concerned it's going to make me gain a lot of weight, since weight gain is a very common side effect and especially because it's also used as an appetite stimulant.

My sister took that medication and did gain weight very rapidly. She stopped it for that very reason. It does something to the transmitters in your brain that make you crave carbohydrates. I don’t know if it happens to everyone but for my sister the weight gain was very rapid. As soon as she stopped it- she started to slowly lose what she had gained and now she’s back to the way she was. I had a doctor that wanted to prescribe that to me for some anxiety I was experiencing it I told that doctor to take a hike.
Thanks for this!

Aww thanks you guys. I appreciate y'alls faith in me. I kinda lost it earlier. I'm better now. No closer to figuring out the problem, but not panicking anymore.

The prof won't go over homework. Someone asked her to last week and she said no. Grr. I may stay after class and ask for help from her in addition to tutoring. I dunno.

That's annoying that the prof won't go over the homework. I agree. Grrr.

X1 = z1 * sigma + mu
X2 = z2 * sigma + mu

X1, X2, z1, z2 are known. Solve for sigma and mu.
