Maybe. Or maybe if you keep plugging away at it, you will find that you can do it. Doing it may not look exactly the way you first envisioned, but it is okay for that vision to shift. Quit if you want to quit -but letting one hard class stop you seems a bit silly to me.

I have a lot of law students who were at the top of their class in high school and undergrad - they have a very hard time with the idea that not everyone will be in the top 10% of their law school class. Law school can be hard. Sometimes the way to the post law school job they want is not as direct as they envisioned or had hoped. Sometimes some of them find something they really like any way. Sometimes they get where they wanted to be by a different route.
The thing they have in common is they did not let the negative self-talk/quit when it gets hard mentality defeat them.

I think I have told you this before, but the second woman I hired did not get her lcsw until she was in her late 50's after she had gotten divorced. The second semester or so, she was in a car accident where she was seriously injured which set her back a bit further. It can be done if you are willing to do what you have to do to get there.

What have you been trying to be? An astronomer? A scholar?

You’re doing this associate’s degree to raise your GPA so you can apply to masters programs in school psychology, right? No 10-year-old you end up seeing as a psychologist will care about your grade in astronomy. Likely neither will your employers. It’s the credential that matters.

I didn’t get straight A’s in high school, college, or graduate school. I still have a career. My students do not care about my C+ in a godawful Women’s Studies course in college.

I’d figure out the grade you need to pass—probably a C—and aim for that. You might do better if you stop pressuring yourself.

Also, tutoring?

maybe a shift in vision is exactly what i need. maybe there is a way to do close to what i want to do without another degree. i should put my energy into looking for that instead for a week or so. there's time before I have to decide to withdraw from the course.

Art, I think you’re being awfully hard on yourself.

It’s too late to take a different class, yes?
So you can drop the class and take a different one when the crazy work hours give you more mental breathing room. Lose money, gain peace, better accommodates your work schedule.

Or you can keep plugging away at this one, maybe adjusting your expectations from A’s to passing (and also learning some cool new stuff about stars and such), in hopes that you get pass and get the credits. Maybe keep the money, not a lot of mental downtime, learn cool stuff about stars.

Neither option is ideal, but neither is terrible in the long run. More

Madame T would say it is good for you to experience the feelings of stupidity that 99% of the population face every day.

PS. That didn't make me feel any better, either.

It's the smart person's curse. Not used to things being hard to learn.

Eggs baked in cream, with whatever you want added on top—protein, cheese, herbs.

In many ways, I love my Macbook Pro. But its metal body is like an ice cube right now, and I'm not loving that part of it...

I went out for the day with H. We ended up at a pub to get some bar food. There was a young couple having a beer next to us. Since they were right next to us it was very easy to hear their conversation. I think the young man was playing the young woman like a fool. It was just in some key things he was saying. I mean I could totally be wrong but I don’t know. I just hope if he playing her that she realizes it sooner rather than later. She adored him and I just got a vibe he wasn’t feeling it.

Good grief, I just broke down crying... over CANDY!!!

Dove makes new "love notes" and I bought some because they were on sale and I love the flavor, I didn't realize each wrapper would have a letter on it. Of course in my first handful, one of the candy had the first letter of T's name

All I am thinking of is how badly I want to give him one and wondering who is lucky enough to be able to. I'm so sick of all of this. Sick of it

SheHulk, it is possible they might be willing to do the interview at your therapist's office. If you use insurance, I'm not sure he could bill for that, so you might have to pay out of pocket, though.

Right now I just have questions about the process and all that. I don't think I could mentally handle an interview right now.
