Whoops, nearly hugged SD. In my defence, I am tired after work.

Oat milk is decent.

I am in the process of cutting out as much processed added sugar as I can. I am constantly amazed at what they add sugar into. Latest surprise was chicken broth. I knew there were reasons to make my own but added sugar was not one of them until now.

That's wholly unexpected...surely chicken broth wouldn't need it?

I think I read the Pacific brand doesn't add any (I am going to have to check) but most others do.

ETA - I was wrong about pacific. It has sugar.

Regarding scars, I have recently sustained an injury thanks to C that I expect will produce a fairly large, hideous scar. Fortunately, it is not clearly from SH. However, I have purchased two products by the brand ScarAway from Wal-Mart for about $10 each. One is silicone scar sheets and the other is a silicone roll-on. They say these work for both old and new scars, although obviously, it works best when used earlier rather than later. You aren't supposed to use them both at the same time. The roll-on is pretty self-explanatory - it's just a rollerball that dispenses a silicone-based medication that you allow to dry. It dries quickly, and you are supposed to apply twice per day for 24 hour coverage. The box says there is enough product for 3 months for a scar of 3-4". I would not advise applying this to your face if you have acne prone skin, as this made me breakout in every spot I put it (on my face).

The second product I purchased was silicone scar sheets. They are about 2-3" long by 1" wide, but do not have a border area like bandages, so you can place them side by side if one isn't large enough to cover a scar. The box came with 4 inside, and each lasts up to 2 weeks. You are supposed to wear at least 12 hours per day, and it is very important to wash the sheets with water every day. They have a jelly-like adhesive on one side that should be painless when removing the sheet if the injury causing the scar has healed. I made the mistake of putting a sheet on before being sure that the injury had sufficiently healed. It wasn't super painful or anything, but the silicone caused the skin to peel on the burn-like injury prematurely. So caution should be exercised. I am sticking to the silicone roll-on for now.

I am trying moringa powder to help with inflammation. It has a slightly grassy taste with an absolutely horrible smell. I have found mixing it in with turmeric ginger tea or almond milk to be the most palatable. The turmeric seems to be doing some good on its own but I have been reading about the super powers of moringa and thought I would try it. I made some almond milk this morning and am having a glass now - it is an settling shade of green from the powder.
The problem I have with home made almond milk is what to do with all the pulp. I hate to throw it out but I am not that much of a baker.

Mmm, me too!! Where my husband used to live in CA (SF Bay Area) he'd go pick strawberries at this one farm, when I first went to visit him there (before we got married) he took me there to get strawberries and growing up in the midwest like I did, I had never tasted anything so heavenly. Those were the best strawberries!! I ate a lot of them when I was pregnant with my son. (A lot of strawberries, and a lot of cheez-it's.) We don't get anything that good here in the desert though.

Right now we're starting to get really good oranges I think they're from Mexico.

No - but I might try this
Baked Almond Pulp Brownies • The Bojon Gourmet

I use dates to sweeten the almond milk a little bit - so my pulp already has some sweetness and I won't have to add much sweetener. This is a tad inconsistent with my no added sugar thing but if I can get down to sweetening with dates I am not as concerned.
I could make crackers or just dry it out in the oven and process into almond flour

I love strawberries too. In summer I buy flats of day-old strawberries for freezing and jam. I made strawberry-peach smoothies for the family this morning, and strawberry pancakes (which are just regular pancakes with strawberry puree).

I sometimes find reading here like when I read how religious practitioners convince women to stay with abusive men. There was a very interesting tv special report on this a few years back and it featured women who were christian, jewish, and I think muslim all who had been counseled by male ministers, priests, rabbis, etc to stay with their abusive husband both for themselves and so as not to ruin the man's life. It was truly horrifying.

right now i'm going through all the extra credit opportunities and making a schedule of when I can do them all - they are all lectures or other things to go to, and then write a 500+ word paper about it. The university in town has a planetarium so i can go see one of the shows tomorrow afternoon... then there's a bar in town that has telescopes out on the patio at night, can you imagine go out drinking and sky watching and write a paper about it for extra credit?! Yeah, next weekend i'm doing that....

i'm going to try to do one per week because they're worth only 10 points each.
