I think erotic feelings come from a more adult place, at least for me. I have been on both ends of an unrequited crush or an unrequited, um, attraction. I don't find that nearly as painful or upsetting as activating the feelings of being a neglected/unloved child.

Yes, this is kind of how it is for me, too. I've experienced probably more than my share of unrequited attractions and love. Paternal or maternal feelings come from a younger place, feel more intense, and affect me someplace else in my body. When I would feel paternal stuff for ex-MC (and I guess recently with T...), it would be this physical ache in my chest. I never felt that for sexual feelings or romantic love (they could be painful, just in a different way).

I guess I see unrequited love as a rejection of the adult me and therefore more painful, because it’s a rejection of what I’ve made of myself. I feel the chest thing with unrequited love/attraction.

At least it makes you an adult.

well so far I've researched Charon, Enceladus, Europa and Iapetus. 3 more moons to go (Mimas, Miranda and Triton) then on to the minor planets Ceres, Pluto and Vesta.... the most interesting moon to me so far is Iapetus, one of Saturn's moons. It's got this big dark splotch on it that looks like it got burned by something. But I learned that it's actually made up of organic materials left behind by sublimating ice. Now I just need to go read the chapter and figure out what exactly "sublimating ice" means. Maybe I should have read the chapter before I started the lab, ya think?! I'm such a rebel. Ha.

Sublimating ice sounds like either psychology or dermatology (see dr pimple popper!). Either way, sounds yucky! tread carefully!

Eta - t always pronounced it unreQUITTed, which drove me effin nuts.

I knew the paternal aunt wouldn't be a good fit for my nieces. My sister told me that she only gets to see the girls once a week, whereas with the foster mom she could see them every day. She's also calling my sister by her name and not "mommy".

I’ve been listening to the Mythunderstood podcast, the versions of Greek myths that weren’t told in D’Aulaires or that orange set of children’s books I read at my grandmother’s when I was a kid , and I find myself wondering whether there are any non-bad dudes in Greek myth.

Sublimating ice means it's solid ice going directly to water vapor without first being liquid water. Sublimation in physics is going from solid to gas. Funnily enough there's also a concept of sublimation in psychology, as I just learned.

I slept maybe 40 minutes last night, and not all at once.... Too excited about the house but I'll pay for it later today. I see T after two weeks; we're trying to wean me down to once every other week instead of weekly but it's hard.

That makes perfect sense the moon was named that then - it looks like a "bad dude" with that dark spot! kinda like an evil eye on the side of the moon or something.

Interesting, thank you!!

And, from wikipedia: "In psychology, sublimation is a mature type of defense mechanism, in which socially unacceptable impulses or idealizations are transformed into socially acceptable actions or behavior, possibly resulting in a long-term conversion of the initial impulse."

I never found any religion's god(s) or figures to be all that nice. Buddha maybe nicer than most. I was raised catholic and I would take the greek or roman myths over the ones I was raised on any day. Zeus/Jupitor did not sound any more capricious to me than any of the more modern ones. A tad less celibate perhaps.

I have enjoyed the podcasts Myths and Legends by Jason Weiser and Myths and History of Greece and Rome by Paul Vincent

I hardly slept last night. Doing my hours today on no rest. The cleaning lady I hired to do the one time deep clean is supposed to show up at 5pm. I hope she shows. IÂ’m a little skeptical because people that I hired in the past always wanted to see the house first before giving a price. She didnÂ’t. She just gave me a price over text (way under what I payed in the past) and told me a day and time that works. IÂ’ll be here so IÂ’m not worried about her taking anything just feels a little strange.

I'm feeling too vulnerable to go to today's session after yesterday's anxiety fest. I was hoping that with some hours behind me, I wouldn't feel quite so exposed, but I do. I want to send him an email before session telling him I'm feeling this way, but I don't know what I'd say or if it would even help.
