Agree. At least contact someone at tell them you aren't going to be there so they are aware you are okay. My work would send out someone to find me if I just didn't show up (of course, those 35 unattended high schoolers are part of the reason); but seriously, they would be concerned. Even chorus checks attendance, partially to be sure we all got there okay. They'll hunt people down if they haven't let the administrator know ahead of time because things happen.

They didn't give him any papers to sign in order to work there, they only allowed him to take a 15 min lunch, bathroom breaks are needed to be made up by extra time, etc. Then there was a lot of conflict with his boss. In fact, when H sent in an email telling his boss that he couldn't physically work there full time, but was will to do contract work, the guy went off on him. H said the boss wrote him 16 times in 4 hours. Don't know if that's true. Don't know if any of this is true (he is a compulsive liar). But if it is true, I agree that he shouldn't work there. Especially being forced to stand up. And according to H, they refused to buy him a chair because they didn't have room for one in the office.

There’s several likely violations of federal law right there, starting with the Americans with Disabilities Act. I’d threaten them with reporting them myself, but he might just be well out of the situation there.

I had a root canal finished this morning. Now waiting to see if the pain is manageable enough to still be able to talk with T.

I feel your pain. I had major dental work done last Wednesday and my mouth is still killing me (and I didn't have a root canal). In fact, I went back to dentist yesterday because the pain was getting to me. He did give me some stronger meds and a gel that I am currently in love with. LOL!

Dental pain is the worst, isn’t it? After they did the first part of the root canal I had bite issues and it was excruciating until the swelling came down and they could fix the issue. I felt as depressed and hopeless as in my worst moments. Pain is really awful.

I hope we are both feeling better soon!

I have an old mouth with lots of old amalgam fillings that need to be removed and my teeth crowned because my teeth are starting to crack. I think I'm going to be living a the dentist for the next year as they do the work in phases. It's all the lasering of the soft tissue around the teeth that's killing me. He gave me KickIt! gel yesterday which really does help. Tastes like crap, but does a nice job of numbing those raw spots. I just wasn't prepared to hurt as badly as I do for as long as I have (and I generally have a pretty high pain tolerance).

I stopped by a gluten free market this morning and the owner was trying to create gluten-free corn dogs and gave me a sample. I've never had a corn dog before in my life, gf or not.

Celiac = new experiences.

I was thinking the same thing. They have to make reasonable accommodations--pretty sure a chair is reasonable. But that may only apply to companies over a certain size? And if this is a small business, maybe not? Sounds like a pretty miserable work environment for sure... I think a bigger business or government job might be better, though federal jobs can be pretty difficult to come by (the advantage is, once you get one, it's really difficult to get fired).

I confirmed it!

That i would be wasting his time, being upset over small things.

But it's also the fact that I'm a heavy crier. I've only had 7 sessions in 2.7 years where I haven't cried. R is pretty used to my sobbing. New guy might think I'm too ill to be ever actually be able to be a functional doctor.

I love corndogs (or Pronto pups as they were called where I grew up - which is odd since that was in the reasonably deep south and the pronto pup company is out of oregon). I also liked cotton candy when I was little. I haven't had cotton candy in over 40 years.

One of my ICU attendings cries every time a patient dies and in practically every family meeting we have about end of life care. Definitely not something that will keep you from being a good doctor.

That would annoy the bejeezus out of me. I am pro letting go of life in 99.9% of situations (I am often the court appointed guardian for the dying/unable to communicate person and have been in a lot of those meetings).
OF course, I also have the final exit book memorized, a stock pile of various methods depending on what has befallen me, instructions in my poa NOT to resuscitate me, and directions to my friends and loved ones to club me and/ or walk away for a day if I collapse.

Glad you confirmed it. It's pretty common to cry in therapy, so I really don't think the new T would equate that with being unable to function in a job. Cry away!

I received a job offer today - the pay, the hours, everything is great except the commute is a little long (about 25 minutes each way) compared to now (I live a 5 minute walk from work/30 second drive). It's nearly $4 more an hour and gets me off of the overnight shift.

Husband doesn't want me to take it but he is negative and cynical about everything - and he definitely doesn't like that my hourly rate surpassed his.

I told them I'd let them know tomorrow afternoon but I'm leaning towards accepting since everything is perfect except the commute - which isn't bad, especially for my area.

Congrats! I'd take it. If your commute was going to be, say, an hour or more, that would be different (done that, it sucks). But the pay is higher and you won't be working overnight--seems like a win to me. And interesting that your H might be bothered by the pay differential--maybe that's the real reason he doesn't want you to take it?
