Glad you got discharged--do you feel it helped? Hope your pdoc and T sessions go well.

Thanks, EM. I'm feeling about the same tbh. Maybe worse since I learned that my aunt who lives across the country is dying of heart failure, completely out of the blue. (She's in the ICU, intubated and on medicines keeping her blood pressure in a livable range.) I still haven't ruled out the hospital. But if my T gets his way I'll avoid it--another friend offered to have me stay with her tonight, so maybe I'll just keep rotating through friends until the crisis passes (if it does, that is).

I'm afraid of getting hospitalized and then my aunt dying and them not letting me out to go to the funeral, because then I'd have to tell my parents that I'm doing poorly again and they'll freak out. I also don't want to get hospitalized and get stuck in the hospital for another month and make my colleagues cover for me again.

Why is your T against the hospital? Is it another rewarding the illness thing? I think you should at least keep it as an option if you need it. You may not have to stay a whole month this time, and it's a place to go and be safe until you're feeling better again.

I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. That sounds awful. This may be a good opportunity to work on separating yourself and your feelings from your family's. What do you need right now? You can figure out the rest later.

Hang in there. I am confident that this crisis will pass for you because no feeling is forever, but I know that when you're in the middle of the spiral, it can be hard to know that for sure.

I got a new toaster oven/air fryer/ multiple thingy for xmas and am having fun playing will all the settings. I wanted to try an air fryer but couldn't justify it as a stand alone thing -but the convection toaster oven I can deal with because I use my toaster oven all the time. I am running around handing my friends bags of chicken wings prepared in various ways. I am certain that soon they will stop answering the door to me.

I don't think I would ever turn down a bag of chicken wings delivered to my door.

Evening Couch,

Thank you to those who supported me this morning with the email 'decision'. I ended up letting the message send, even though it puts me in a vulnerable spot.

Hugs and headnods as appropriate.

I would open the door however many times you came knocking if you were delivering chicken wings.

Thanks, EM. T’s thing about the hospital mystifies me too, but I think it has to do with him believing like what I really need is one on one therapy and I won’t get that if I’m in the hospital. I still might end up going though. I’m just feeling so awful.

I don’t know what I need right now, but I do think that’s the right question to ask. I’ll have to have a think.

I usually start with basic body stuff and then work my way out from here. Have you eaten, showered, slept, changed your clothes, etc? If not, do that. If yes, what might feel good to your senses? Fluffy blanket, scented candle, petting a furry creature, popping bubble wrap, etc. Then from there I sometimes pick a thing to distract me, the more engrossing the better. Video games work well (the Sims can completely fast forward time for me), although lately I've been favoring episodes of Murder, She Wrote on Amazon Prime.

If you feel like trying any of this, report back and let us know how it goes!

Yes - they are dry brined (kosher salt, a little sugar, and some garlic powder) overnight uncovered in fridge - then some salt free spice on them then put in the convection oven - cooked for 25 min - then a little (I really am not much of a sauce person so really just a tiny bit) of a honey hot pepper glaze I concocted and put back for another 5 min.
Quite tasty

Does anyone else cringe every time they see another “open letter” on Facebook? Or on any other social media platform, for that matter.

Like the ones where people start off with something along the lines of “an open letter to the woman who judged me in the grocery store checkout...” or “to the mom who scolded my daughter on the playground...” etc. These are just made up examples lol.
Thanks for this!

Oh...those. I honestly just don’t read them.
I read one years ago.. “An open letter to the overweight woman on vacation”
Or something along those lines and I now avoid them like the plague.

D had a therapy session today and...I think it was actually fairly productive? Her T, P, kept trying to talk to her about feelings, and was somewhat successful. Then D was suddenly saying she didn't want to be there anymore. And admitted it was because P wanted to talk about feelings. So P was saying how feelings can be hard to talk about, but there are also good feelings, like happy or excited. And there was some other stuff, too.
Thanks for this!
