I had to put on shoes today to go to the pharmacy. Shoes are weird.

I wonder how much time I've saved just by not having to decide which shoes to wear each morning?

Sounds like me. I’ve just been rotating leggings and t-shirts since all of this started, with a pair of slides. Maybe I should do something nicer for my Zoom meetings tomorrow.

I worked one night shift last night (12 hours) and it wiped me out - today has been miserable because of it. So sorry to hear that they did this to you.

Thank you to whomever talked about liquid soap being a conspiracy to sell more product. Since I read that I've been using one- third as much soap and I still get clean! Saving pennies over here!

So I had an appointment with Info Wednesday afternoon. She sent me the Zoom invite for Tuesday, same time. I wrote and asked if that was right (I could have misheard 6th for 5th easily).

Nah, she just screwed up and I heard right. Hope she straightens it out in case she sent someone else an invitation for my slot.

I've ordered a new cable modem and wifi router in an attempt to make teletherapy work better for me. I'm not sure if it's my admittedly old equipment or just the limitations of the medium itself. I have a really hard time when the session freezes in the middle of it. I often don't look at the screen, so there have been times that I've just been talking for who knows how long when I look up and the screen is frozen. I'm really grateful that some of our sessions are still in person.

This is simultaneously jarring and comforting today: I am chaperoning my kids' choir rehearsal.

We've pretty well stayed in the Monday routine, but my boys all sing different parts (tenor, baritone, bass), so they are Zooming from different rooms. I can hear them all from the living room but they can't hear one another. It's so familiar and strange at the same time. I am so so appreciative of all of their dance/choir/theater teachers who've worked so hard to make rehearsals happen for these kids while everything has shifted so profoundly. It's pretty amazing.

And I can drink wine and chaperone at the same time. Win.

I am supposed to be writing a paper right now.

Only one more section to write, the hard one. Bleah. Clearly I am very focused. Heh.

I need to write a paper before Wednesday night. Shouldn't be too bad if I can get the motivation to start it.

We ordered another wifi thingy to make the signal stronger in the room with the most privacy, but we haven't hooked it up yet. I hope it helps, but it seems kinda odd that we would need it since our house is already pretty small.

I am thinking about experimenting with a phone session rather than video on Friday. We have had technical difficulties during the middle of the last few sessions, which is frustrating and disruptive, but I think it would help with the eye contact thing too. During video sessions, I have to look at her in order to feel like we are in the same room, but sometimes the kind of neutral look on her face makes me feel bad inside. In person, I usually spend a lot of time looking away when I'm talking about difficult things. But if I look away from the screen during a video session, it's like she disappears. When we have done phone sessions in the past, she has done more therapisty things with her voice because I can't/don't have to look at her. So maybe just audio and no video will help. It's worth trying anyway.

'If I look away from the screen during a video session, it's like she disappears.'

Absolutely. Thank you for putting it into words.

Blargh.

I woke up this morning to find that my roommate, whom I've been allowing to borrow my Switch in order to play Animal Crossing on her own account, logged in on my account and bought a whole bunch of stuff for our island without my permission. And then Facebook messaged me laughing about it. It's all with fake in-game money ("bells"), but still--why the eff would she think this is okay? She's been doing weird stuff in the game like pulling up all my flowers and replacing them with weeds, and putting crap in my garden like an ugly chair for her to sit in... it's like all of her hidden aggression towards me is coming out in this stupid game. The weird thing is that we're getting along really well in real life--she's cooking me dinner after work and I'm buying us a fancy dinner once a week and buying her McDonalds for breakfast (her favorite) to say thank you and stuff like that.

WTF?

That's super weird. Maybe she thinks it's funny? Have you told her that it's irritating?

I’ve been letting it go but I’m gonna have to put my foot down here—this is just egregious.

She’s a PhD candidate in English, not any kind of first responder... though that doesn’t stop her from constantly complaining about her job.

God I am so sick of people.

I'd stop letting her play altogether.

If she wants to play she can buy her own switch + game.

I read your dear T post- are you going to see T again?

I love you Una.

I do resemble a vegetable dumpling now- no gym for almost 5 months.

A lovey dovey song for you which I've had on repeat:

The cutest thing is that they used her diary entries throughout the video.

I see T in 2 mins exactly. He's been been super kind + emailed me four days in a row which he's never done before + most of it was over the weekend.

I also found out that he's been using a shortened version of his real name all this time.
