My husband is getting a vaccine some time after Christmas. It scares me what if it won’t work right and make him sick? But we will see. Hoping for the best

I'll get the vaccine as soon as I get access to it. With a principal and a teacher in our district currently on ventilators, it is too close to home. In fact, speaking of close to home, our next door neighbor spend 5 days on a respirator a couple of weeks ago. He was sort of "non-believer" in the seriousness of COVID, and by his own admission, it bit him in the butt. My daughter-in-law has had it twice and is now on a post-COVID medical protocol because her lungs are so damaged. (I'm older than all of these people).

I had a student ask me if I am afraid of dying (she had been quarantined for awhile which is I guess why she asked). I told her I am not personally afraid of dying, but I AM afraid of dying before my husband -- with his health problems and probable early onset dementia, he needs me.

My father should be being given the vaccine very soon (he's 90 and in assisted living), and my sister will be getting it soon after as she is his designated care giver and is over 65. I suspect with my profession and my husband's health issues, we will qualify for fairly early vaccines.

By the time it filters down to those of us in the general public, there will probably be a pretty good idea of how safe it is.

I admit I can’t help but think the last time a vaccine was produced this fast was for the 1976 swine flu scare and that may have caused Guillain-Barre in some recipients.

We had lots of people very sick too, both teachers and students, we are teaching face to face with the exception of one month online during minishut down on November 18 until Christmas break. It’s over. We are back in person after Christmas.

I heard that teachers will be getting it soon, not sure. My husband is RN in post surgical unit in a hospital, but they said it won’t happen possibly for them until after New Years. First they said right after Christmas.

I hope you and your family get it soon

Omg my best friend had guillaunbarre in 2019, I don’t wish it on my enemy. She was on a ventilator for a week and in a hospital and then rehab for months. She still has some struggles.

Bah. I offered to work tomorrow and the next day, and the morons put me at one hospital tomorrow and the other the next day. So I'll spend the whole day tomorrow figuring out what's going on with the patients only to leave them and pick up another set of patients the next day. Stupid stupid stupid. Bad for me, bad for the patients. Next time they ask for volunteers to cover the surge, I will specify that I am unwilling to do this again.

H and I just got back from driving around looking at christmas lights. I got all nostalgic for christmas eves spent with my grandparents when I was a kid.... i could almost smell my grandma's homemade chicken noodle soup. i think i'll crochet for awhile tonight before i go to bed so i can feel close to her. she's been gone a very long time but i still think of her often.

Merry Christmas couch!

Presents opened, wrapping thrown away, pictures taken, and now curled up under my blanket contemplating going back to sleep.

I hope you all have a good day and don't work too hard.

We have white Christmas. It snowed at night and I actually think it’s still snowing a bit. Everything is white outside. My husband just returned from night shift and he said roads are slippery. I am glad I am not going anywhere today

My mother sent me a big box of presents one of which was a seat belt extender. Jeez mom, way to make me feel good about myself this morning. She also sent a really lovely hand-quilted throw pillow, so I'm not a total Grinch.

I'm speechless. Also glad my mother never shopped for me again, after that one light blue polyester ruffled vest pantsuit in 1974.
