I have never considered it floral. I despise things that taste like flowers (earl grey tea, lavender ice cream, etc are not for me). But it does use things like galangal, kaffir lime, cilantro (which some people hate because to them it tastes like soap - it is genetic), lemon grass, thai basil, etc. It also can be very very hot. One of my favorites is green papaya salad - yum.

Ironically, I think they call it Tom Yum.
It's the least yum thing I've ever eaten.

I had both my wedding dinners at Thai restaurants. So if I ever get married again, I should probably pick another cuisine.

I love tom yum (or yam) and tom kha kai (gai) (it has coconut milk and chicken in it).

Pad Thai is a good introduction, though I also like Pad See Ew. H usually gets a green curry that’s pretty good as well.

I found one restaurant not far from me with several reviews that say "Best Pad Thai I've ever had" so perhaps that's where I'll go. Thanks couchies!

Thai is one of my favorite cuisines also. I can't eat it often, though, because youngest son is allergic to peanuts. We can't eat Thai as a family. When I go away for the weekend, I make sure to get Thai food. One of my favorites is massaman (a red peanut curry).

I make the thom kha gai at home fairly often. It is a favorite here, and easy (which makes it my extra favorite).

I "cheat" and use the Taste of Thai (I think) coconut ginger mix packets from the grocery. Two packets, two cans of coconut milk, chicken broth. I stir fry whatever veggies I've got on hand with some garlic and grated fresh ginger and dump them in the broth with some cubed baked tofu or cooked chicken.
ETA: Oh! And I simmer a sliced lime or lemon in the broth before I dump the veggies in.

Changing the subject from Thai food but with the changes in my life lately I'm feeling the need to change up my hair. Mine's been all one length for a long time, right now it's parted in the middle and a little past my shoulders. I haven't had bangs in many, many years but I'm starting to think about getting them again. I wonder how they'd look? Or if it would just be a colossal mistake. Not like super-severe ones but softer whispier ones or whatever.

I use this one but generally I add chicken and give the shrimp to those who like shrimp - I like the broth with the shrimp cooked in it but I don't really like shrimp to eat

Gahhhhh. I commuted all the dang way to the clinic I see my psychiatrist only to learn my appointment is tomorrow, not today. I don't usually mix up dates for my medical appointments.
At least it's tomorrow, I really think I need a medication adjustment. This isn't my worst depression but it's still bad and I'm beginning to get really afraid about my ability to resume working. I've tried Googling to see how long it tends to recover from severe burnout but didn't find any solid answers. |

If you’re interested in bangs, Artie, you could always pin your hair in a way that would simulate bangs. Curtain bangs are usually a safe bet as well. I’m pretty haircut adverse because I have this weird form of alopecia that makes it so that my hair breaks off very easily, so it’s almost like it doesn’t grow. It’s taken me 5 years to go from chin length to shoulder length.

Going to try to get an appointment at the animal shelter for this coming Saturday. They are only open Tuesday through Saturday 9-4 and I work Monday through Friday 7-330 so the only day I could go is Saturdays. I think their last appointment to view animals is at 3 anyway. I put in an application to adopt a cat and it was accepted. I know it is a bit soon since I lost Esther but I am really wanting a nice cuddly kitty. I love Amelia, she's queen of my heart, but she is not a cuddly kitty. She did let me pet on her this morning without her freaking out though. It was nice. Her fur is so soft and pretty. That was a special treat.

I have an appointment with my case manager tomorrow. I did two of the three things we talked about. It's kind of late to do the third thing but I do feel like I tried my best.

Thanks! Yep for sure I'd have somebody else do it. ONE time many years ago when I was a teenager I attempted to trim my own hair and I got frustrated and chopped a big chunk out of it. Never again! ![]() Quote:
Thanks daisy. I've never been good at stuff like that so I looked for a youtube video and actually found some! I'm playing around with it now. |

Kit, I hope you can find a cuddly cat at the shelter! I don't think it's too soon after Esther--it's about what feels right to you.

So I turned the tables on Dr. T today--I was the one who used a sports metaphor. He made a comment on something I said, and I said, "I was actually about to use a sports metaphor there." He took off his glasses in sort of a "Wait, what?" gesture. And said, "OK, then, I'm going to stop talking--what was your metaphor?"
I said how with H and D at times, I feel like I'm watching a game from the sidelines (or on TV), and the coach is making all these bad decisions. And I'm sitting there thinking (or yelling at the TV), "Why did your run that play? Why did you pull that player?" But I can't have any influence on the game. And he said that was actually a really good metaphor. (I mean, kind of sad, of course...) |
