It’s been 16 months and we all have pandemic brain...I’m not surprised he’d forget. Just be prepared, he may have forgotten other things too.

Remember, LT, how you quoted a high school poem you wrote about how you felt like a minute to a teacher but he was an hour to you? It’s the same with most non-friend/family relationships. What is important to us is not important to them; what they remember may not be what we remember. (ETA: doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt, but it also doesn’t mean he’s an idiot or insensitive...at least not over this.)

And I don’t get the moving of seats. As he said, you’re sharing the same air.

Hi Couchies, Mom got discharged from the hospital last night, late. She has/had ataxia and vertigo. She is still dizzy so I told my Dad to google head positions with vertigo because there is some technique you can use (I know because I've had vertigo three times and used this technique three times to get rid of it to varying degrees) to get rid of the vertigo. She had an appointment with her primary today too so hopefully that will be insightful. I don't know how she got the ataxia. I hope she starts feeling better because dizziness is no fun.

You make some good points here. If I'd only been seeming him a few months before the pandemic, I certainly wouldn't have expected him to remember.

Actually, part of the conversation in session today (not related to this, though a bit to the teacher/high school in general) was how two people can share the same experience, but have very different memories of it. Also about how our memories of an experience may not reflect reality.

It partly came up from my having read the journals from senior year, where I'd completely forgotten about certain things. Such as how I'd gotten into the band Queen--was the teacher's favorite band. I'd completely blocked that out and felt like they were a bit tainted to me. Dr. T said maybe I could think of it as a good thing that came out of that relationship.

Back to the hand-shaking: I didn't really say at the time that it bothered me (aside from "uh, don't you remember the whole conflict about that?") But I didn't say I felt hurt or forgotten or anything. I may mention it next time, but like an "FYI, this bothered me a bit." Like a year ago, I'd have sent a hurt email. So I think this is some sort of growth?

And yeah, with the seat moving, I'm sort of hoping that will be something he might abandon quickly.

Glad she's out of the hospital, but sorry she's still dealing with that. Could it be some sort of inner ear issue maybe?

I thought people were gonna forget about shaking hands period. At least for a generation, given there are no more epidemics.

Slumber, did your mom go on any hard rides when you guys went to disneyland? I have a neighbor who, a couple of years ago, was looking for someone to go to Cedar Park (Ohio's version of disney rides ) with her and ride ALL the roller coasters, to celebrate her 70th birthday. I was like, girl if you dont have any brains by now, great - you will blow them all out on the rollycoasters. I hate those utube videos where they show children "falling asleep" on the slingshot rides - theyre not falling asleep, they are losing consciousness. I think they are concussions.

Anyway, when i had my dizziness and stuff, i found that a foam neck brace helped me. I think mine was caused by whiplash from a bus accident a few days before. They never found anything on me either, it was just, well your face is distorted this way and youre seeing double. But they didnt know what i looked like before, i had to tell them.

Eta - i have to do that funny bending and twisting thing every once in a while too. My aunt had it done at the drs office, just once i think, she said it was horrible, she almost puked, but it fixed it!

Thanks Una. No, my Mom didn't go on any hard or particularly fast roller coasters. Small world is about as wild as she gets. Although she did do the teacups. Maybe that could have caused it? I did the teacups with her and I am fine.

The big bosses arrived from New York today at work. The first thing we did was shake hands. Lol.

Yes it can but honestly it can also create a **** load of drama. In my family I think it was around £10,000+ in lawyer fees on a case which went to court too.

Might sound dumb, but is she drinking enough water? Is the heatwave reaching you in Cali?

She probably isn't. We've been at around 111 F or 43.88 C. It's been pretty hot here. The other day it was muggy too.

Perhaps it bothers you because it's the only physical contact you have with him. With the previous erotic stuff you'd want it to be meaningful for him too.

Hm, this is a really good point. And for him, it's probably like, "OK, a handshake, whatever." But for me it feels like more of a connection to him. And a nice way to end the session (it particularly helped when I paid at the end, so the last thing I was doing wasn't signing a credit card slip--it felt a little more personal to then shake his hand).

I’m also annoyed that I’m not hearing back from journals about the story I sent out five weeks ago. Just one rejection so far, and I’d expect more by now since I sent it to ten total.

Sorry you're having such a miserable day. Were you able to reschedule with Info?

And how long do journals usually take to get back to you? I'm just curious.

Those two rides are una-approved. Also looking at the singing bears, or is that just at disneyworld?

It's usually 2L on a normal day, but I'd try to add a bit extra cause of the weather. You guys also walked a lot too, but heat exhaustion is a real thing.

Do you think there was anything else before?

Yeah i slept for 3 or 4 days before i even started to revive after my mothers funeral in late july. It was sooooo hot. I pushed for 3 days to meet and greet people and drive every day, but i was in physical pain afterwards. Not grief, just heat exhaustion.

I've seen the singing bears too in a Simpson's episode!
