Maybe I’m used to getting rejected quickly. But I do use Duotrope.com, a submission tracker site that tells you average journal response times based on users’ experiences, and for most of them I still have 2 months to go (so 3 months is probably standard). Only one journal is past its usual return time, and the only one that got back to me already was right on its usual two weeks. (And all of them are faster than academic journals in my field, which can easily take 6-9 months and don’t allow simultaneous submissions usually.) I should just forget it and move on to my summer rewrite project, instead of waiting for closure on this one. |

I remember reading A Bully on Barkham Street and A Dog on Barkham Street in first or second grade - they told the same-ish story from the side of the alleged bully and then from his alleged victim (or vice versa -I no longer remember which came first). I was fascinated by the whole thing and it really made a giant impression on me. The same and yet very very different. It has stuck with me for over almost 60 years. I am always taken by surprise at the motivation/reasoning/acts students tell me they attribute to me - it is almost never correct.

They are changing some of the disney ride scenarios/names/staging to be less offensive.

Yes - apparently they needed to go further than just taking Song of the South off the video shelves

What is unclear about it? I really don't see what is ambiguous or long winded. I could edit it but I am not sure what needs to be made clear or what is excessive.

I think I am clear, cynical, and often concise. But if exhankster and I were writing stories of our interactions - it might look a lot like The Freudian of Psych Central and The Therapist Hating Skeptic of Psych Central

Fair warning - I was six or seven - the writing might leave something to be desired for an adult

That show is pure trash and I can't stop watching it. Have you seen that the therapist Kirk Honda has done reaction videos on YouTube? I think it's interesting where he points out what is psychologically problematic within the relationships (in his opinion) and what is weird but not pathological.
I'm still not sharing bath water with anybody else, thankyouverymuch. |

Have you seen the one where the mother and daughter shower together?
Now I'm wondering if that is pathological or just weird. I'll have to go find Kirk's YouTube videos. |

Oof about the handshake thing, LT. I'd feel hurt too. I haven't hugged anyone, including T, for ages, so I'm glad T allows a fist bump.

I had a dining room table and chair set delivered to my apartment lobby. Per my email it arrived yesterday (Sunday). When I got back from seeing the BF at 2:00 this morning (Monday), I saw the package in the lobby but was exhausted and did not want to drag it into the elevator and into my apartment (the apartment is stupidly designed and there are five doors you have to hold open to get from the lobby into my apartment). I just went down to get it and now the package is gone. The bed frame that I ordered (and, per my email, arrived on Saturday) is still there.
WTF??? I thought this apartment complex was secure -- you have to use a key or a gate-opening fob to get in. The lobby itself is not locked, and there is no concierge, but you can't even get to the lobby without a key. Did some rando hop the fence and steal it? Did one of my neighbors steal it??? I emailed the apartment manager but am assuming that she's going to give me some BS response about how it's my responsibility to keep track of my packages... though when I toured the place, she told me that part of the apartment's service is to deliver packages directly outside the door to your apartment, and only like 50% of the packages that I've had delivered have actually made it to my door rather than just sitting in the lobby until I came to pick them up. (This is significant because to get to the floor that my apartment is on, you have to put your key in again so even if a rando hopped the fence they would not be able to get to it.) (Obviously, I also brought the bed frame upstairs bc apparently the lobby is not safe.) Do I have any recourse here or am I just out $300? WTF am I supposed to do in the future for delivery of packages, particularly large ones? ETA: I do have renter's insurance, but the deductible is $500 so that's useless. |

Chiro, i hope it turns up. Getting stuff delivered inside means we really dont have a problem with porch pirates, but seeing something and not picking it up is a jinx - there is no other explanation.
