I feel like this is such a minor problem compared to everything. But our dryer died a few days ago, the heating element, which is the same thing that we had to get replaced less than 2 years ago, so we figured we'd get a new dryer. Washer's also getting up there, and there are deals for getting both together, plus financing and stuff, so we got both. So far, I love the washer. But I despise the dryer. Partly because it's making this weird clanging noise (we're having trouble finding examples of it online). So, maybe it's a defective unit, and they can replace it. But also because it's really challenging to override the "sensor dry" settings, which, so far, when I've tried using those, the load has yet to be actually dry when it says it is. (Anyone else have an LG dryer?)

I think I'm just annoyed with myself because I did a fair amount of research, this is really well reviewed by Consumer Reports and on other websites, but I should have known better than to get the sensor dry technology thing. And now we'll probably have to go through the process of returning it (Lowe's has a pretty lenient policy with that, it seems like, though of course we'd lose installation fees) and having someone come out to deliver the other one. If it wasnt' for the clanging noise, maybe I'd just suck it up and deal with it. But I feel we'd likely need a new one anyway, and if i don't like this one, shouldn't keep it.

OK, rant/whine over.

Yeah, I don't think a brand new dryer should make a clanging noise. Probably defective.

I have LG appliances, but I don't know how old they are. They came with my house. There have been some times when the clothes aren't completely dry with the sensor feature, but overall I'd say it works pretty well. If I'm not going to put them away right away, which let's be honest my dryer gets used as a storage place, I'll usually just check and see and if they're still a little damp. If so, I'll run another cycle which finishes pretty quickly because they were almost done.

Whew. Almost 6 hours later the "generally 30 minutes" test came back negative, so just a cold. Which I expected and my mom gut was telling me, since we are all vaxed and cautious. But still...I didn't realize that tiny bit of worry I was carrying until I saw the results, mostly because we'd been out and about and mingling around other people including kids who can't get their vaccines yet.

LT- I'd think that if the dryer is defective they'd cover the installation fees for a replacement. It's not your fault you were sold a lemon.

Glad to hear it! We had my D tested a few months ago to be safe, when she had some GI symptoms, but ended up being just a stomach bug. It was like, "Right, these other illnesses still exist."

I don't remember what brand of dryer I have - it takes more than one timer's length to get clothes dry

Hm, interesting... In a sense, I get it if it's something you're going to hang up anyway. Because I think that leads to less wrinkles. But if it's underwear, PJ bottoms, something else you're going to throw in a drawer, why would you want it still damp? There should be an option of "dry it all the way" vs. "still damp."

That's a good point. Definitely worth asking about it. Most places want to make it right, even if it costs them a little money--they'd prefer repeat customers and word of mouth. I mean, if Lowe's says no, then there are other stores that sell appliances located right near them.

Thanks, NP. If we end up getting a new version of this one, then maybe I'll just check and do the extra cycle as needed. I mean...honestly, we're pretty bad at leaving stuff in the washer overnight (or longer) and sometimes having to re-run it anyway...or leaving it in the dryer and having it not be completely dry (we're not too concerned about the wrinkle aspect).

It's funny, I had a session with Dr. T this morning (he's out tomorrow, my usual day), and I said "We're getting a washer and dryer delivered right now. If you've had an awful experience with LG, don't tell me!" He said he didn't even know what brand of washer/dryer they had. (I know our previous washer was GE, maybe the dryer too?)

My current washer/drier came with new house, they're Samsung and way more high tech than I have ever bought or would buy. They have all the bells and whistles and so far anyway work marvelously. H and I have always bought the bare bones ones. I never thought I'd say that doing laundry is a pleasure but it almost is now. The first time in my life I've ever had a drier that dries on the first round. My old drier at previous house took 3 rounds to get a load of towels dry.

Thanks for the juggling video, NP! I need to get back into my juggling practice. I'm just working on the basic pattern, though - nowhere near that good!

I am having a panic attack about groceries. My daughter and her boyfriend have bought groceries and put them in the cupboards leaving me with not much space to put my groceries. I only have tiny cupboards and it has triggered me for some reason. It feels like i am being squashed. I dont know how else to explain it but my body physically feels like it is being squahed.

I feel like that sometimes, like my family are taking over every inch of my space.

Taking an early lunch cuz I'm attending a webinar this afternoon through work (part of the culture ambassador thing) about being your authentic self at work. Should be interesting.

Hugs to all who need/want.

I decided to try Betterhelp so I would have a therapist to talk to in between talking to Dr K who doesn't have much availability. I don't know what I think yet. I have my first "chat" session tomorrow. Since he--J--is in the east and I am out west most of the appointment times are pretty early. I picked the latest one I could find and that way I can do it over my lunch break at work. There seemed to be an awful lot of back and forth with the therapist because of my history with self harm, suicidal thoughts, hospitalizations. He wanted to make sure I was "safe" before he would agree to work with me. I have to admit, that didn't sit well with me. I might be "safe" today and totally unsafe tomorrow. I don't plan on telling either T about the other one and since Betterhelp is out of pocket my insurance company won't know. Anyway, I'll try it for a month and see if it helps me with stability or anything. It's a little pricey because there's no insurance involved but I thought it would be worth trying at least.

I hope it helps some, Kit. Is that the setup where you can text/message them whenever? Or do you just have set meeting times? Or is it a mix of both?

Thanks, LT. I'm still trying to figure that out. I think it is a mixture of both. J says he responds to messages in the mornings usually and within 24 hours (not including weekends or holidays). And then I set up a chat appointment. I had the option of chat, phone, or video but since I will be at work, probably on my lunch break, with the whole lack of privacy thing I just chose chat this time. I can always try a video or phone one another time. Except his schedule would probably work better for someone on the east coast. His appointment times were like 7 AM PST (which is when I start work) and the latest one I found was 12 PM PST so I took that one. Not sure how that is going to work.....I'm trying to think of it as an experiment. If I hate it, I'll just quit. If it helps some maybe I'll keep going. If I love it, I can quit Dr. K.

I had a dream last night where I guess I was trying out different therapists. First, LT drove me to an appointment with Dr. T, but we didn't click. Apparently LT and I work together? Then I ended up in an appointment with Info, except she was younger than in real life. We were meeting in a tiny room with a curtain for a door, kind of like an ER "room" except barely big enough for two chairs. There was apparently some strife over me not filling out her paperwork thoroughly enough. Very strange dream.

Believe me, Info’s not the type to worry about un-thorough paperwork.
