The best they can hope for is, "I understand that some of my student were distressed by my style of feedback and I am sincerely sorry for that." What more can you say?
Oh, this student was speaking on behalf of multiple students. Not the whole class...I told my chair this: I said that at least half the class would say that my style of feedback had helped them improve the quality of their writing...and my chair said "the student said that exact thing."

So the expectation is that I'll apologize to the entire class, either by email or a short video (although that wasn't specified). My chair probably expected me to do it today, but she did not specifically say that, so I didn't. I need to sleep on it, at least.

You're not wrong. It doesn't threaten their safety or well-being or have major consequences...so learning the mild consequences of a small mistake is good, in my opinion.

One of my siblings has been bailed out all his life. He's still not at all financially responsible in his 30s now, and has a huge sense of entitlement.
So every sibling gets guilt trips from our parents and other relatives (so nice to volunteer others) about how we need to ensure he's provided for. And so... there's no incentive for him to not squander money, to learn life skills, to get a job or budget. There's no consequences because someone will swoop in whenever he's irresponsible.

My ex was like that whenever we got into any financial trouble because he always talked me into it even though i had misgivings, he would hit his parents up to bail us out. I never wanted to get credit cards but he convinced me that to get a creidt rating you need a credit card. I am so financially unsavvy i dont understand at all. All i knew was that if you couldnt afford to buy something you saved up til you could, he wanted things now. Anyway his parents always want to control what their kids do even though they were in their 40s. Thye didnt want one son to start a tour company they really put the pressure on but he made 1/2 million in profits in 2019.

I love this. We should only communicate with each using anagrams. Steak at Kits, philosophical teachings from LT, doom a la moomoo, squealing Artie. What a world we would create.

Mobius, what happens if you don't apologise? Your chair can want you to say sorry all she likes, it doesn't mean you are obliged to apologise for your style of teaching.

Very similar to the world we already have, I reckon!

Morning couchies. My house smells so good right now. Lingering smells from the bread last night, and I cooked bacon this morning, so the combination is heavenly!

I do love a good steak (I make a terrible vegan). Of course I would make sure to have lots of gluten free options for you @@

It's going to be a long day at work. I've finished the work I can do. I'm waiting on some part numbers from sales before I can do two invoices. So I am sitting in my office. In fact I am the only one in the whole building today. 8 out of 15 are out today. (Not covid) It's a funeral for the former owner. I didn't work for him as long as most of the other people so I didn't feel the need to go. I sent cards to his (grown) children when he passed so I felt that was sufficient. But unfortunately it gives me a lot of time to sit and think. I need to be distracted so I don't get panicky, edgy, and fragile like yesterday!
