I hate those stupid workshop things. The last one we had was some perky social worker who had probably gotten her master's the night before and was acting like our law students were pre-schoolers. I pointed out that lawyers actually need to be slightly less emotional than a 4 yr old and should be able to hear about the bad things that happen to their clients without weeping or needing their hands held. It was, in a word, ridiculous.

I'm about ready to cry. Last-minute cross-country plane tickets are expensive, and the longer she waits to give me the stupid schedule, the longer I have to wait before booking a ticket and the more expensive it's going to be. Plus, my BF is visiting this weekend, and saying goodbye to him on Sunday without knowing when I'm going to see him next is going to be awful. (Some of the places we work require us to take call from home or go in on the weekends, so I have to know when I'm scheduled to be at those places before I know when I can be out of town.)

I know that this topic isn't interesting to anyone but me; I'm just so freaking sick of my awful boss and the other fellows are probably sick of hearing me complain about it (though I bet they'd feel differently if *their* schedules/lives were being screwed with ffs) and if I don't vent some of this frustration I'm afraid I'll say something to the wrong person and make things worse for myself. This kind of absolutely terrible communication in a situation that matters a lot to me where I have no control makes me absolutely crazy. Pls do skip/block/ignore/whatnot if all this venting is annoying.
Is she like this with everyone? It just sounds like a boss i used to have who would target the newest emplyee and then once you stood up for yourself she backed down.

She's equally careless with all five of us fellows who started at the same time. I'm just catching the worst of it because my schedule was the one that got changed due to my co-worker's family emergency.

The last cohort of fellows tried to stand up to her but it didn't work. And she's a big deal in the field, so pissing her off would 100% not be in my best interest.

One of the best things I did during the pandemic thus far is get an ebike. I had stopped biking because my knees and hips are no longer in fighting condition. But I can ride the pedal assist bike for an hour and still walk the next day. As soon as the weather stops being 100 degrees I am going to start commuting down to the law school on it.

Well color me curious!! Just before I went on break I got an email from my boss inviting me to an online meeting with our director saying that she has some "positive news she wants to share". I have no clue what is up! Welp I guess I'll find out in just about an hour now. I wonder??? Update to come.

Oh, I hope it's something good--raise or promotion? And good on her for telling you she had positive news to share instead of the ominous "can we meet?" without any other context.

Dr. T is competing in his sport later this week (and driving a bit of a distance for it). I told him to be safe, including around other people (because of Covid). And I wanted to wish him luck, but for some reason what came out was: "Crush the competition!" Which made him laugh for about a minute. He said "This coming from the fantasy sports champion!" (I won in one of my football leagues last year and am in fantasy baseball playoffs this year).

Thanks y'all! That certainly made my day/week/month. I got a (really good) mid-year pay increase! These things very rarely happen unless you get a promotion. Looks like all my positivity and volunteering I've been doing the last several months is paying off. I'm at lunch now kickin' back and enjoying the last of that rice/black bean/corn/tomatoes thing. I put a little bbq sauce on it today and it tastes really good.

I'm getting stressed about my appointment Friday for the intake for IOP. I tried googling what the intake would be like but I keep finding information for IOP's for substance abuse/misuse which is not why I am seeking an IOP. I think it's an assessment which I haven't had in a long time and it's 90 minutes so I am hoping we don't have to do any sort of IQ testing or anything like that. I'm kind of like what could possibly take 90 minutes? But I guess they will just go over the medications and presenting issues and stuff like that. IDK. I'm pretty stressed about it.

We are having a work luncheon today for the August birthdays. We are having chicken, rice, potato salad, beans, and tortillas. And then for 2 o'clock break we will have cake!

I'm guessing it might be like an intake with a new therapist? The intake with Dr. T was a 90-minute session, where I had filled out a questionnaire on history and current issues, habits, etc.. So we went through that. And I've had an intake with a clinic and a p-doc that was like that as well (I've also had less structured ones).

Is there any sort of questionnaire you have to fill out? If so, that might give you an idea of what they'd want to talk about. I imagine a little of the time might be spent telling you about the program, too.

ETA: With Dr. T, it's kind of funny to me now that 30 minutes into the into, I looked at the time and thought, "Ugh, another whole hour of this?" But then it passed fairly quickly, and now 50 minutes often seems way too short.

Hi LT,

Yeah I had to fill out a questionaire including questions about COVID, Medications, Physical History, Surgeries, Mood, Anxiety, SI, SH, Alcohol/Drug Use/Misuse/Abuse, etc. So I guess they will start with that and go over any areas that I indicated are a problem.

I had an assessment done IP and that one wasn't 90 minutes so I'm like, wow, 90 minutes sounds like a really long time. But maybe they will talk about the program and what the treatment plan is and so forth. I just hope it will work with my work schedule because I still don't know that part of it.

I'm trying not to stress because it is several days away but I'd be misstating the truth if I didn't say I am a little anxious about it. Maybe more than a little. I just feel like if it doesn't work out with this place there's no way I am going through this process with a third place. It's far too stressful.

I ordered this for myself as a treat for going through the trouble of trying to find an IOP. I am proud of myself. So this is my reward.
