I dehydrated some marshmallows at xmas. People with little kids loved them - we tried them and then I used. them for packing material

Lately i keep dreaming that i think my mother is alive, and im living at her house or visiting her, then still in my dream i realize that she is NOT there, even tho for the last 3 or 4 days i really thought she was, and that i had been talking to her etc. Then i dream that i should talk to my last shrink about this, because it keeps happening.

Its a very unique state of being when i think she is there. Well obviously.

Art, dehydration can lead to a higher GFR result. It's transitory. It happens to me periodically, and I don't have kidney disease. Caffeine is dehydrating, so you don't need to give it up if you just be careful to drink more water--especially in the heat you live in. Diuretic use can cause kidney disease over time, so if you take them regularly, you will probably be told to stop them (I was told to take them for hypertension, then stopping them didn't effect my blood pressure at all). Don't worry about it.

Thanks FKM. This makes me feel a lot better! I usually do drink a lot of water during the day along with the tea in the mornings, but come to think of it while we were on vacation I was drinking tea throughout the day cuz we were eating out so much. Maybe it is just that, since I wasn't drinking as much plain water as usual. I'm sure my dr will be sending me for followup bloodwork so I'm going to pay attention to drinking more water. I'm on blood pressure meds (a beta blocker) but I don't use diuretics.

Today I've managed to write a new piece for the bereavement organisation website. The director got back to me with the piece that she wanted to include, but that was written nearly 10 years ago. I stand by it, but I think I can express it more clearly now.

I really didn't like the feeling I got when I went back to my old blog.

Gosh I don't feel like working today. I would love to just curl up on the couch with a good book and a cup of hot cocoa and just read the day away. I'm not in the mood for my family zoom call in a couple hours either. Sigh. But break is over, back to work with me. I think I'm going to skip the zoom call, though. My brother and my son rarely show up anymore, so I can take one Sunday off, right?

Has anybody cooked with jackfruit? Like, using it as a meat substitute? I'm curious about how that tastes, I've been looking for healthier alternatives for h and ran across some recipes for like bbq jackfruit (like pulled pork) and stuff like that.

(using my lunch break to browse recipes instead of watching my family talk as they rarely let me get a word in edgewise)

Well my lunch break is almost over and I am still not motivated to work today. oh well. H is like why don't you just call in sick, you never do that. I said I can't, I'm afraid if I do when I'm not sick, that will just ensure that I do get sick as payback for lying. I did schedule 3 days off in September so I'll have 5 days off in a row including my usual weekend. I will content myself to look forward to that, it's not all that far away, less than 2 weeks.

I hear h out there sleeping on the couch, snoring away, they don't usually call him for jobs on Sunday but he's already told them he's available anyway. He was tossing and turning all night, guess he didn't sleep too well thinking about the stuff the dr said yesterday.

I have this same thing, where I'm afraid if I fake call in sick (or cancel plans saying I'm sick), then I'll get sick as karmic payback.

I don't really have anyone to call out sick to because I'm freelance, but I could still use an excuse to push back a due date. I try to be very careful with that (like I did when I had a migraine and another time with strong side effects from first vaccine), and they were very accommodating. But now there's a chance my D could end up having to quarantine for 10 days at some point (if she's exposed at school or has any symptoms--well, if she gets a negative test result, it's only 7 days, but still), so I feel I need to have some goodwill built up in case I need to push back a deadline.

I make jackfruit tacos quite often. The texture is nice, the flavour is not very strong especially if using spices or other strong flavours. It is faintly sweet (but not like strawberry sweet) and faintly citrus (but not as strong as lemon). Definitely worth a try.

I prefer braised tofu, drained and roasted in relevant spice/herb mix to give that crispy meat effect. I use it to make crispy "duck" pancakes.

Marigold Braised Tofu - 225g - Marigold - Ethical Superstore

It's not easy to find though, I don't know if you have it in the good old U S of A.

If you want an unprocessed alternative, king oyster mushrooms are a good substitute for pulled pork.

I really need to get a life. When did I become this hairy-browed dowager with so many meat substitute suggestions? I remember when I used to stay up all night, drinking and seducing women (even before I knew una).

Happened to me too, I feel like I should have the girls over for potlucks and sewing circles, I used to live it up! Getting old sucks.

Case in point I'm sitting in the lobby of the ER with a gash in my eyebrow after fainting and face-planting in the bathtub. I've never fainted in my life!

Couch vibes welcome, I don't want to sit here for 6 hours.

So I'm a vegetarian who doesn't like the actual texture of meat (a big part of why I became a vegetarian, honestly). Which of the options you mentioned is least meat-like?

I was talking to my sister earlier and she told me not to buy fresh jackfruit that it's way too much hassle. So she pointed me toward this pouch option, which I'll look for in my grocery store. I think I'm gonna try one of the bbq recipes she told me about first. It's the most likely-sounding one that h might try!
