that's what my t told me to do today. Dream of things you would like to do. But like i told her why dream. I have no money to carry out those dreams.

Ever since i was little, I saw that movie Houseboat. Since seeing that movie its been a dream of mine to live on a houseboat. Its not feasible for me to do.

So why dream? Get my hopes up, when i know damn well i'll be let down. Always have been. Why would this make a difference.

Dreams dont come true.

Til then... Dream Dream Dream

I don't know why you can't aspire to living on a houseboat? My husband and I almost rented him one from a friend instead of an apartment 20 years ago! I think it's a fine dream. You should read more about it and see if you can't figure out how to work toward it:

It really aggravated me for her to say to dream. I just dont understand it. If i ever find the answer i'll let you know.

((((Hallie)))))) I dont care what color it is. As long as i have a place to hang a hammock and a deck up top. I'll pee in bucket for a toilet, i really dont care.

(((Perna))) A bunch of times i looked into renting one along the Atchafalaya Basin, but they are really expensive to rent. And if you want to take one out for awhile. You need a certain license or have to rent a captain to drive it.

I just dont see it in my future. Unless i win the lottery and i dont even play the lottery. I dont know, dreams for me have just never come true.

I gave up on dreams when i was little and all i wanted for Christmas was a Lite Bright. I told Santa how much i wanted one and he never brought me one. I'm still waiting on that Lite Bright.

if you live in a houseboat is your toilet just a straight shot down into the water?

always wondered that

It sounds like you need a lite brite! Dream Can you go and get one for yourself? It's not a house boat, but it sounds like something that a part of you still really wants. Can you honor that part of yourself?

I recently bought myself some mandala coloring books and a huge box of 64 crayons (mine, all mine, NOT to share with my kids) and it makes me happy when I let myself sit down and color for a little bit.

LOL; my grandmother promised me a horse before she died and she died in 1966; I'm still waiting for that horse too :-)

I'm 57 and live in a house on the water; 5-6 years ago my husband and I looked at houses on the water, even a couple in this community and there was no way we could ever afford to have one, it just wasn't going to happen. I should have known better, it isn't the first time (including getting husband, home and family) that I have gotten something I totally didn't think was going to happen.

I like to daydream because it feels good, it's like one's own personal story for when I'm bored or stressed. Having something that I'm working toward helps keeps pulling me forward.

Why don't you start by buying yourself a lite-brite now? That is one of the activities I really like; going into Toys R Us and looking around and realizing that if I wanted to, I could buy whatever I desired in there (but, don't particularly want anything anymore; although, Target. . . LOL :-) Spend the $15 on yourself as a commitment: http://www.hasbro.com/default.cfm?pa...roduct_id=9332

I have a series (3) of jars that are different sizes that belonged to my "mentor" a woman I loved who has since died. I have no use for them but I keep them anyway. Well, I decided to make them into "wish" jars and I have put seed packets in them and 50 cent pieces from the racetrack, etc. to see what "grows" LOL. You could have your lite brite and look at it to remind you of what you wanted; maybe there's a "model" houseboat you can build? I have a tiny wooden rowboat, reminded me of the boat I wanted to build as a project several years ago.

well, funny thing about daydreams - it's all imagery.

imagery can be used to map out possibilities for ourselves.

that is how many people create businesses, wonderful works of art, crafting, architecture, etc.

it works in the creative process, as a map.

so, use imagery to map a course for your life, include in it your own dream circumstances ... that would be a wonderful way to rise above lower expectations we have on ourselves presently, or to reclaim parts of ourselves we may have left somewhere or forgotten.

meanwhile, we are guiding (using) our minds to imagine fulfilling our desires.

that sounds good, doesn't it?

do you think T meant this?

at least, if we don't attach ourselves to the outcome, we can have a nice time imagining a better life for ourselves, even if it's not about things, but a happier, healthier life - it's got to be good - like a prayer, yes?

Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star.
W. Clement Stone

Some dreams we may take a lifetime to achieve or we may never achieve them, but we may find the right direction to head.

You wish to live on a houseboat. You could save enough money to rent one for a month sometime in the summer.

maybe fulfilling your dream is possible in a series of steps and you could use that to take a step in the direction of your dream.

if making more money, getting a different job, more training or education would help your dream come true, then a first step might be taking one class or something like that.

It really sucks when our dreams feel unreachable. It makes you want to give up, I know. Sometimes I play a head game with myself about these kinds of wishes and desires so I don't get stuck in trying to get something that feels impossible. So, maybe you could save up for a vacation on a houseboat? I think there are such things. Or maybe you could think about what the houseboat means to you and find another way to fulfill the desire? Think about expanding your dreams and you might find some fulfillment.

Best,

I'm totally broke and if i had the money i'd buy myself the lite bright. I heard they've changed some since the 70's, but i dont care.

Yeah, i've always been a water person. I have a kayak, but since the storm haven't taken it out. I was thinking of selling it lately. I'm not sure why, just reminds me of what it looked like when i first saw it after the storm. It had some deep scratches and a few holes in it. But i've since patched them. I dont know, maybe i'll take it out one day to the Waveland or Bay St. Louis area and try it out. If i sink, i sink. First i need to get a new vest for it and the emergency kit which isnt cheap at all. And my paddle still has some of the oil on it that i can't get off. But im sure that paddle will glide in the water pretty well.

I sometimes see houseboats for sale along side the road. And just imagine myself living in it somewhere along a river down here. Fishing off it and just sitting back relaxing. Gotta get a job first that pays pretty well, cause those arent cheap and neither are the motors.

Who knows where dreams will take me. After having them when i was a kid and always being let down, I gave up on them. Why get my hopes high.

My t asked me where did i see myself in a few years. And i told her i'd thought about moving out of the states, since i'm so disgusted with our government and living in a hut alongside a beach somewhere. Then she asked if i'd ever had a dream growing up and i told her about the houseboat. Thats what started it all. Reaching for those stars seem a long way away. Don't know where i'll be in a few years. Probably stuck in the same position i am now.
