When I was discussing with her about how I wanted to be a T I told her my parents thought I couldnt do it because I could barely control my own problems. SHe said this "you can, when I leave and turn out the lights at the office I'm a different person"....I then thought....does she even think of me outside our once a week visit?.....Guess I"ll never know huh.....

Interesting, because during one of my sessions the conversation came up about off time and if she thinks about her clients after hours. She said she does think about her clients, often researches the literature to find helpful information on our conditions and current trends in treatments.

I think she thinks of you! My T say's I thought about you this week because I saw a TV show that reminded me of you etc.. I think what she meant was she realizes she can't take on the world and she can only help/do so much and the patient needs to do the rest. They are human and of course she thinks of you.

Yes, they think of us, but not as you seem to want--as a friend or partner.
T's have a regular and full life like anyone. A fulltime T might have scores of patients at a given time. I'm sure when something comes up that relates to part of your life or treatment you pop into her head. And I'm sure that she deliberately thinks about how to use some idea in your therapy, or to refer to something she comes across. And esp. when you've been having a particularly difficult time she probably wonders how you are.
