Can I still post though it is obvious I am not always using my "wise mind" (rational mind) full time yet?--have only been in DBT about 7 weeks now! I'm still learning after a lifetime of rapid cycling bipolar. Meds are helping, but I know I need to do "my part" by learning how to control the escalating emotions & not let them get control of me--not there yet--obviously--apologize for that.

But just wanted to say great job on handling a really tough & hurtful situation where it would be easy to just "throw in the towel" & also you have a really cute picture.--Suzy

((((Suzy))))

I use a daily diary card to keep track of the skills that I use each day. I don't circle wise mind very often. lol Guess that's something I really need to work at. I've been in DBT about the same amount of time. We're just getting into emotion regulation, had our first class this past Thursday (just an introduction). I can already see that it's a module that will help me greatly.

Thank you for the encouragement. I go over the situation in my mind once in a while and think I did the best job I could with the skills I have. It would have been easier to just quit group so I wouldn't have had to face the other person, but in the long run, the benefits are greater for dealing with it directly.

Thanks. It's one of my favorite pictures.

I'm glad to know that you feel you are benefiting from meds and DBT. It always makes me feel hopeful to see someone 'in my shoes' doing the work it takes and being successful. Thanks for posting!

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."

"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.

"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."
