my daughter is getting married one week from tomorrow...07/16/05. i'm so proud of them both. this was a match made in heaven.

thing is...i'm a last minute type person. my mind keeps going to...what do i need to do, what needs to be done, why aren't they calling with things i know they need, etc, etc, etc.

i just talked with daughter and they don't need anything! they've both planned it out to the "t". they've both been that way their entire lives with friends, school, church, college, goals, life and love. hubby wondered why i'd expect this to be any different...lol. my youngest (the maid of honor) is prepared, hubby's tux just needs to be picked up, i have my dress already (just need to get shoes)...everything is done. somehow that is so bassackwards for me...lol.

anyway, everything is going beautifully and my baby's getting married in one week.

Congrats and best wishes to the soon to be newlyweds! I went thru what I would call the "Redneck Wedding from H***" in December. Mother of the groom here tho - could get NO information from brides family, they did everything wrong (according to proper etiquette), the brides family had ......er........NEVER been to a CHurch wedding, bride wore WHITE while pulling her 12 month old son in a red wagon down the aisle.....I could write a BOOK ! LOL !!!! But, I lived to tell about it - and now have a gorgeous granddaughter that takes alittle of the sting of that "planning period" and "The DAY". I am glad your daughter, and soon to be son in law are mature enough to have done so much !!!! You must have done a wonderful job raising her !!!!! Sit back now, relax, and look forward to the special day !

((((((((((((((((((((((parker))))))))))))))))))))))))) thank you and i'm sorry to hear of your son's wedding and your not being involved.

i'm not being involved either, but only because there's nothing to do! LOL. those kids are amazing. they've been together for almost 7 yrs in a commited relationship through part of high school and all of her college where she earned her BA in psych. he's in college right now for his master's in engineering. he's going all the way for his PhD. they've both done it on their own as well. he had a "free ride" for his BA. he was validictorian and has done so well. the college actually paid him to take his mater's courses there. also, one of his professor's got a grant to inlclude giving him and pretty good sum to do research at the base while he's working on his master's. that's how they're able to get married at this point. they've both waited to further their relationship until they're married due to their religious convictions. they are truly amazing young ppl. so, it's not surprising that every single detail is complete and being attended to by the two of them. my daughter "allowed" me to purchase her dress and accessories...lol.

can you tell i'm proud? ONE WEEK--DAUGHTER'S WEDDING!

Keep your hubby away from her veil. ONE WEEK--DAUGHTER'S WEDDING! My dad threw mine out in a cleaning fit the day before the rehearsal dinner. We spent Friday scrambling to find another one.

Good luck and remember to enjoy the day. Things will go wrong, they always do. ONE WEEK--DAUGHTER'S WEDDING!

Kimmy, my daughter did the same....
She had eloped with a man just out of high school, which turned into a nightmare. She had a full 4 year scholarship to Univ. of Ky, and did this the week before leaving for college. He was an alcoholic/addict drug dealer, and turned very abusive to her. Despite this, she managed to maintain her scholarship, and finally left him during her third year of college. Upon graduation, she married Mitch, and is now the happily married mother of twins...my lovely grandsons, Jack and Mickey, age three. Mitch is working on his Doctorate in Education and LIndsay has managed to achieve her MA in Education. The twins are wonderful.
The planned their own wedding, which was very unconventional, in a "cigar bar" downtown Lexington, next to Rupp Arena, walking down the aisle to Frank Sinatra singing "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You!"
I hope to go visit the little twins next week (instead of the stressful trip to Canada...Thanks again, Kimmy!!!)

so much emotion! there's nothing to do, but the rehearsal and dinner tonite, then tomorrow she'll be married at 2:30.

i'm ready. everyone i'm in charge of is ready. wow. i can't believe this! i saw her and fiance at the mall and boohoo'ed right in the middle of the mall. my daughter and i were there the day before yesterday because i bought her a couple of dresses (one to wear from reception, the other for honeymoon), and bawled then too. i at least waited until we left the mall though. they're so beautiful, bright and young. i don't worry about those kids...nope!

the thing that worries me now is...when he finishes with his PhD, they very well might move away. ONE WEEK--DAUGHTER'S WEDDING! that's in a couple of years though.

anyhow, my baby's getting married. there's so much emotion! i have so many memories of my little cotton top running through my head and into my heart. she's such a brilliant light in this world. i'm so proud of her. she plans on doing more out of the country mission work before having children, and while hubby finishes his PhD. she plans to return to beirut soon.

please wish them a blessed day!

thank you,

kd

Great news ! Congratulations ! When I finished my PhD I moved away from France (to the USA and the UK). Guess what, I am back home. I wouldn't be worried about that. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! Wish you all lots of happiness!

For you KimmyDawn...wishing you and yours all the best life has to offer!

Petunia

Daily nurturing, watching the petals
Of a treasured rose as they unfurled

Was a surely precious and rare beauty
A wondrous true treasure of this world

Another radiant treasure found in life
Is seeing my sweet precious Daughter

As she becomes a beautiful wife

We wonder where the years have gone,
As we now look at you.
You take another’s hand in yours
And start a life brand-new.

We think back to those early times
When you were still so small --
That pretty smile, those caring hands
That tended each new doll.

Old photographs bring back those days;
We treasure every pose.
For as you grew, so did our love --
It blossomed like a rose.

We pray your marriage will be blessed
As your new life now starts,
While memories of yesteryear
Are etched within our hearts.
