OP, yes. It is rather unusual to not want to live with the person you marry.

Well a " legal" marriage can affect financial aspects for both parties If there is no co habitation then benefits for whomever would not change.

My take on this is that it's a commitment ceremony that basically commits to nothing since it seems like the only commitment exists on the part of the guy......I do wonder if he really knows where you are coming from angelwings or if you haven't truly been open & honest with him about what you want in your life? Lets see, you are the one that wants the open arrangement to be with more than just him & you are the one that doesn't want to live with him........

I'm curious about this too. What is the actual "commitment" here the ceremony is celebrating? Can you even call your boyfriend a "fiancé" if you're not legally getting married?

OP if your arrangement works for you AND your fiancé, then awesome, doesn't matter that I think its weird or imbalanced and largely favours you, instead of being a fair compromise.

I agree with those who said that if the arrangement works for the two of you so be it! Doesn't matter what the rest of the world thinks.

That said, I can't envision committing myself to someone and not wanting to share my life with them. That's me though. I I'm going to pledge my love for someone I want to live with them. That's part of the reason I'm still a single widow after 16 years. I don't want to have to rearrange my life to fit another person in it.

Not yet, we don't have the money yet to get married where we want to in Disney World!
