a person that has been in my family's life for years took my bank card and emptied my account. my rent check is coming and i'm .40 overdrawn. he had used the card once to buy lumber and has access to my house.

this is a person that i would have trusted with my life. but, that's always the case, isn't it?

so, he found my card (probably took it out of my purse, as he has been here with my granddaughter.....he dated my youngest daughter and is close to my granddaughter) and went to a different bank and used their ATM.....he's been making withdrawals periodically. i haven't, so i had no clue about this.

i am sick. i just talked to my landlord and he is furious.

Prosicute (sp), this is NO friend, it's going to be hard but you really must get the legal system into this, they'll get all your money back, the trust is gone yes, but get your money back

That's a terrible thing to have happen. Even more so because you have known the person for years.

I agree with nothemama, tell the bank what has happened, they should be able to give you your money back. My aunt's bank card was stolen a few months ago and her account emptied, and her bank gave her the money back.

I am so sorry this happened to you! It makes me ill just thinking about it, and the financial hardship you will face as a result. I'm not sure you can get the money back, though, as Mama says...I hope so!

Oh Pat, this is just awful. Not only being betrayed by a trusted friend, but the financial crisis he has created for you. Makes me w onder if anyone can be l00% trusted, especially when our backs are turned.

Don't the ATMs have surveillance cameras? Maybe when you call the bank they will check the tapes and you can catch him red handed.

I am sooo sorry this happened to you

I'm just sick about this for you, Pat! The thing about getting the money back...Even if you go thru legal channels...does he have any resources? Sounds like not, though I do hope he would be able to repay you!

Pat, you are no fool. Just because you are a trusting soul with someone who obviously had given you reason to trust him does not make one a fool. Please don't kick yourself when you are already down hon.

He is most definitely the fool.....and much more for that matter.

I hope you can recupe your losses and get him to answer to the law and YOU!

Sending you strength and love

i was watching a video about pitbulls just now and i just cried and cried and sobbed and wailed and i realized it was the pain of the betrayal by this person. he has been a family "friend" for at least 10 years.

i know how he got my pin number now. we went to buy lumber one day and he was standing right by me and saw me punch it in.....i guess he was slipping my card out of my purse occasionally...

i've already been to the bank and the police. i quit adding it up because i got so depressed that i couldn't go on. but i'll finish it tomorrow. obviously, i won't recoup anything. the pieces are falling together and he's been lying about his job.

this is someone who said he needed some moral support right now and this is what he did. i wish i could find him!!!!! "Friend" Emptied Bank Account

Hi Pat,
As we've been talking in PM, what a horrible thing to have happen!

Depending on where you bank, you can get the money back. It probably will take 6 to 8 months which certainly won't help you now. Be sure to take the police report to your bank president.

Yep, betrayal stings bad...
Take care,
Okie

Pat can you go to the other banks where he withdrew the money? most of the time they have cameras there and they can go back and get those tapes to prove it was him doing it. send him to jail!

Its awful when someone you know and trust betrays you like that. I'm a big believer in karma, and this bastard will get what's coming to him!!!
My thoughts are with you.
