Im sorry to read about this.

The very same thing happened to me while I was at university. My best friend emptied my account, everything! Even took me into an overdraught.

I was gutted. I lost all confidence in people. She too had been taking my card and removing money over a period of time. Then one day she took the lot.

Its a very hard blow to get over. I hope you take this gut all the way, he deserves it.

i've been thinking about every aspect of this. i never gave him my card for lumber, we did go together and he saw me punch the number in.

i went to bed crying and cried this morning when i woke up. more details in general.

i'm trying to be positive, but i am really, really depressed. hurt, numbed. all of it.

more police reports today and bank has given me all the records i need. the other bank will let me and cop view tapes. i, naturally, have all the dates of his withdrawals on my bank printout.

i gotta go to work so that this hole won't get any deeper. thank you ALL SO MUCH FOR BEING WITH ME..........xoxoxo pat

p.s. i called him more names that you did!!!!!!!!!! call him some more for me~~~~~~ "Friend" Emptied Bank Account

I'm glad you made police reports and contacted your bank. This was a despicable thing for this guy to do to you. I hope you get back everything you're owed, including compensation for any inconvenience.

Don't blame yourself for this, and don't put yourself down. Every time we trust someone, we do so taking a risk. Sometimes that trust is broken. It doesn't make you stupid. You have to take risks with trust, or you'll just hole up and never have contact with anyone, anywhere. Blame the person who takes advantage and breaks your trust, not yourself.

Oh of course violated is the feeling.....no doubt about it!

((((((((((((((((((((((((( Pat )))))))))))))))))))))))) no one deserves to be violated in that manner or any manner for that matter. But I do know that from the bad, comes the most miraculous good. You have so many wonderful supporters here that can take that scumbag and make him just a distasteful memory for you! I hope it happens real soon!

Pat,

I can relate to the horrible feelings you are having when a person who you trusted & cared about could do such a horrible thing to you, knowing quite well how much harm he was doing.

Your posts take me back to the feelings I had when I went through when my Mother was dying & the home care person who was supposed to be an RN & a good friend of my Mothers boyfriend pulled the ID theft with her ID & the abuse she did to her also.

When it is happening, we don't always see it happening, & after it has happened, it is so hard to put all the pieces together in our minds.....it just all seems so complicated.....& yes, being violated is a perfect description of the feelings you go through. Hurt that anyone could do something like that. On top of that, we wonder what else they might try in the future & are they done doing damage.....or how else do we need to protect ourselves against them.

It is like living through a bad dream, or like I felt, it was like watching a movie that keeps replaying in our minds, not knowing how the ending is because we are working on that part of the movie. Trying to figure out what our next move needs to be & who all we need to report it to....but then, we need to put the pieces together so we can tell them what happened too......when even we aren't sure of all the details while we are putting it all together in our own minds.

I hope they are able to prosecute this person...& nail him good for what he did. Sometimes the bank will get your money back in cases like this since it was all done on a bank card.....but the stress of it all even if you get your money back is a horrible thing to even have to live through.

I wish I could be in a more helpful position.....I will try to help as much as I can......if you want to PM me......I will be glad to listen....sometimes it is good to have a place just to put down your feelings & have someone who has gone through similar experiences be there to listen.

Tears are ok.....anyway to let out those hurt emotions is a good thing....
Take care,
Debbie

What happened to you was awful. It's terrible to be betrayed by someone. I hope that you're eventually able to get the money back. When the same thing happenned to me, I did eventually get it back but it took months.

Hang in there.

Im getting mixed up on what thread im in LOL. I was just thinking, perhaps your daughter can tell you his address if she dated him.

Also, i think i told you earlier that the very same thing happened t me while I was at university. I remember the bank manager telling me at the time (16 yrs ago!) that if the ATM had a video I would have been able to identify the person and the bank would be liable to refund the money. I notice that you were saying the bank has tapes that you have to look at. Perhaps if you can make a formal identification and press charges the bank will refund the money. I dont know if things are different in the USA. Good luck with this.

(((pat)))

What really bites me too, other than what he did, of course, is most people who do this to people don't think or care about the other person for one, and for two, if they really needed money, the one they stole from would probably of given to them had they asked legit...

no one has seen him. i looked at tapes and identified him. i had the times on my bank account sheet and the images were easy to find. he won't show up again here in this county. at least, that's my take on it.......

and if he does.....boy, is he in a world of hurt!!!

Well, at least you have seen the tapes and know for a fact it was him. Its just awful that this has happened.

I read in an earlier post that you have a private detective on this too, how is that doing.

The thing is, this guy who took you rmoney must know he is going to get caught. The police will have his name and age and they will be able to trace him via his social security number. The police do that here and find many criminals that way.

This guy has been very silly as he knows the police will have his name and so on, its only a matter of time. His only option is to go into hiding and come up with an assumed Identity and that seems unlikely if he is involved in drugs and stuff

The other thing is, i know you werer saying that you dont have his address and could only drive to his house. Maybe you could go with your private detective to his home and see if he is still there.

Please kep us up to date as i had the very same thing happen to me and I know what you are going through.

i have communicated with his roommate. he hasn't been there for quite awhile now.

obviously, i have never asked him for his social security number or his drivers license number. i think his birthday is in December. i'm not good at birthdays, etc.

i don't have a private detective....it is a small town detective. the place where he did live is in another county. they don't have jurisdiction there. this is a town of 11k, he lives in the town of Austin. or did.

i'm hoping that he will turn up somewhere and i'll hear about it.
thanks, pat
