Since i started on birth control my whole private area has been itchy and i have a nasty discharge, however we have determined it isnt a yeast infection. Ive been to my doctor multiple times, and she still hasnt figure out whats wrong, or how to adjust my medication to make me better. As for my relationship, we cant be sexually active because it hurts me so much, and i cant orgasm as a result of that. My boyfriend has been wonderful through all of this and is supportive in every way possible. So i guess my question is...does anyone have idea how i can fix this problem? Should I go to an actual gynecologist? Should i get off the birth control all together? What other forms of birth control would be affective? I want to use more then just a condom, because the thought of anything less scares me...any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, if I were you I'd see a OB/GYN. All that itching must be driving you up the wall. There are lots of types of "the pill" out there and maybe a low dosage one would help. But the GYN would be the best judge of it.

Are you using a spermicide? You mentioned wanting to use more than just a condom. I am allergic to spermicides.(noxonyl 9? or something like that, I cant remember how to spell it!!) After using those I was just insanely uncomfortable. It is pretty common for women to be allergic to that I guess. There are alot of different forms of birth control. You can go see a doc or go to Planned Parenthood where it is based on your income. I am so glad to here you are being responsible and smart!! You can also search the web under birth control, there is alot of info there.

Yes! most definately see an actual gynecologist. There is a reason for your problem and since your current doctor can't figure it out chances are he/she doesn't have enough knowledge in that specific field. It surprises me that you were not referred to a gyn when the reason for your discomfort couldn't be found. I know when I was on the pill I became dry as a desert and sex hurt terribly so I got off the pill. A foul smelling discharge is indicative to an infection. Not yeast but something else. Yeast infections usually don't smell too bad. I hope you find the cause soon and get some relief.
