Did you ever hear the story about the guy who had terrible phobias at night?
He was in counselling for years out of fear of the monsters under his bed. He knew it was irrational, but thats how he felt. Then one day he came to a session, and said it was his last one. He had told an old childhood buddy about his fears and his friend said, "Just cut the legs off your bed." He said he'd slept perfectly for the past two weeks. Sometimes we have to act and make a healthy decision even when it goes against how we're feeling. RDM |

I think that’s why the solid platform beds got popular. The designer secretly wanted to resolve his fears too and created a whole new bed design.

Hmm, seems like there could be a lot of levels to that story From irrational fears, to not overcomplicating a problem, and probably others.... That's a good one |

Cool story. Interestingly, last night I dreamt I at the world's biggest marshmallow. When I woke up my pillow was gone!!!!!!
I know. I know. Old and corny. Still epic, however. |

That interesting! MY take on it was just like I said.... I looked at my own recent situation, and I didn't feel like it was the right decision, but I acted anyway.... And it was the right decision. AP..... You so insightful n stuff. (burp). 'Scuse me. That was the marshmallow pillow. RDM |

Dealing with it and "cutting" the legs off are both shyt ideas. I don't know if that's the point, but if it is I don't get the point of the story. There are infinite bad ideas.
Idk the point of bed frames. Just put a mattress on the floor. I've either been sleeping on the floor on a camping sleeping pad or a couch for years now because I can't sleep on mattresses. When I do sleep with a bed, I'm under it haha. __________________ [Insert thought-provoking and comedic quote here] |

Good story.
We do have to take action and take care of business instead of spending our short lives doing nothing fearing monsters. Taking actions is hard and scary. Doing nothing might seem easier but in a long run it is not. |

I get the story but it’s maybe a mark of my anxious ultra careful personality that I wouldn’t cut the legs off the bed. You need airflow/air circulation underneath the mattress, we sweat in our sleep and it’s got to go somewhere.
But okay yes, I get it. |

I cut the legs off of a be once, but it was because the bed was way to tall, and I am way too short. I got tired of having to jump up into it, so I had the legs cut so make the bed a more reasonable height! Still had monsters, though!

It’s an allegory. It’s not about actual bed or mattresses or bed legs.

Sure, I get it but… I guess I’m thinking sometimes we do need to do something that doesn’t make logical sense to us because it is the best course of action but also we ought to think through the consequences too before we act…

Going to chuckle about the legs on the bed....I had an elderly American Eskimo dog (Tawny) who was blind & had doggie dementia. She would get under my bed & get lost & thump around until I noticed she was under there & then I would have to crawl under & help her get out....things that go bump in the night __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. Good story. To me, it highlights the sometimes pointlessness of therapy.
