21 months

I spent some time today down in Shell Beach. There is a memorial there for St. Bernard. I brought some flowers and sat on the bench. I saw the names of friends and thought of those who have since died from this. It started to lightly rain. I'm glad, cause my eyes were empty of tears. I stared past the memorial and looked out at what was gone.

There are so many people I still cant find.

There was a place
It had a dialect like none other
A wholeness of self
It came from those people
Who formed the community
Where everyone was family

Time stood still
There was no sleep, no eating
And the deepest feeling of fear
Escalated as more of those days went by

Now, the sight you see is gray
The smell just putrid
And the touch of home is gone

I Just ask that if youre ever out and about
And come across a strange accent from a big mouth
Greet them and tell them Hi
Cause you just met my friend from home

I'm sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to lose so much in one fell swoop. I wish you peace.
