If you read the bible it shows God arguing with Satan over Job. God allowed some evil but used it for good. He did not create evil, Satan rebelled and that was evil. We have free will and are willing to be evil. This free will is so we can choose. I know my bible so I know what Im talking about.
God is Good.
Proverbs 16-16"How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver!"
Choose understanding and read your bible! God created only good

If God is using evil part of the time, you can't really say he's always good. He moonlights a little on the side, but for his own good reasons.

I don't think we can compare ourselves to God and Satan, because there's no guarantee our reasons are good (we're only human). We can only compare our behavior, actions and reactions in life to either side - good or bad.

Am I correct in assuming you live out your life in accordance to whose path you happen to be following at the time (every step you take in life) - i.e., good versus bad = God versus Satan?

Am I correct in assuming good things are like following the Ten Commandments are a Godly path, while bad things like not following them equal a Satanic path?

God is so much bigger than your idea of whose path I am following at the time. I follow the great light who is Jesus. I don't honestly know what you mean to ask by the last two questions.
"I am that I am" says the bible. Chew on that one. God created only good

When I read this thread, I am a bit torn about the way that the conversation has gone. The original poster seemed to want to share a message of hope. Some people replied to express their disagreement with that particular message. Nobody expects anyone to agree when they don't, but we do need to keep in mind that beliefs are near and dear to each person's heart. What would be appropriate conversation elsewhere and on another topic can be painful here. I don't want to censure anyone for expressing beliefs that differ from someone else's, but at the same time, please keep it supportive. Rather than replying with any kind of message that you disagree, maybe another thread could be started that explains what is important to you. For example, rather than directly contradicting the belief that Sky shared (her belief that God created only good), a new thread could talk about a belief in the value of opposition. Please return to the original topic in this thread. If you want to post about what I wrote in this post, please take it to another thread.

Thanks,
Rapunzel

p.s. This is a quick reply, and is not directed to any one person in particular. Thanks for understanding.

Thanks Dulcinea for the apology. Accepted. God created only good

What you said is truth, though.

God is good. If we know nothing else, then we need to praise Him for His goodness. Though we are allowed to argue with God, I caution anyone to not attribute attributes of the devil to God. There are warnings in the Bible about that. God created only good
(Blaspheming the Holy Spirit...)

Anyway... and everyday... God is good. He created you with love and intent for goodness.

Be ye righteous also. God created only good

I'm afraid I was like this proverb
"He who winks maliciously causes grief,
and a chattering fool comes to ruin."
I read Proverbs every night and still have
trouble taming my tongue
God bless you all
May He be Blessed from here on.

Were you apologizing to me for implying I should bite you and your bible, or were you apologizing for saying it's okay for a person to use evil for good? That was my impression of your initial post because most people agree God is good. I only wanted a little clarification (an example) on how that is played out in real life among people. Catch phrases and slogans have always left me feeling a little empty.

Sky - do you know me well enough to accept an apology for me?

I'd prefer an explantion over an apology, but this is obviously your thread and I am not welcome.

I was apologising for my less than loving tone. I believe this thread was meant to be a loving place, perhaps not a place for debate. If you wish to start a debate thread of your own that might be a good idea. ? My apology applied to Sky also as the author of this thread. My wish is not to "bite you with my bible" at all. God is love and that's all I want to say. You sound like you've been hurt by something and want to take it out on God. Well God wants to help you heal that hurt and only wants good for your life. Won't you think that over. I love my bible and love to encourage others to read it, I especially love the book of Proberbs and that's why I quote it often. God Bless You.I know that many Christians don't walk the walk they profess and it's confusing. I find that praying helps me, just talking to God, it helps me know He(or she)is real. I try to remember how huge and vast God is and how I can never really fathom Him. The bible is important because it points us to Jesus, and, in my opinion, the way to salvation. I sure don't mean to beat you up with it. Maybe we can encourage each other in a more positive way, what do you say? You'll have to forgive my "catchphrases" I can't help it.Some bible verses from proverbs apply here "Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice." I humbly take your advice.

I did mean an apology towards you. I have an untamed tongue, and fingers. I don't mean to be anything but a light on your thread. God created only good God created only good God created only good

I had no intention to debate your beliefs. I merely wanted clarification because your post about good and bad confused me. I would have accepted any explanation you had to offer, but telling me to chew on your bible doesn't really explain what you meant by your post.

I am very close with God and always have been. It wasn't God who hurt my feelings. It was your refusal to respectfully answer my question and total disregard for me as a person (apologizing to Sky for conversing with me and messing up her thread).

Perhaps these two verses in Ephisians will help:

<< Ephesians 5 >>
American Standard Version

1 Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children;

2 and walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for as a sweet aroma.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Christians and imitators of Christ, we don't always make it. Only Christ was perfect. But keeping Him and His love as our goal, it becomes easier.

You've apologized. Whether it's accepted or not is beyond your control. You've done the best that you can. No need to continue a useless argument. God created only good

God created only good

God is Good, God is Love, and God is Peace.

No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us. (1John 4:12)
