A couple of weeks back a band manager approached me to do the album cover and publicity photography for a death metal band, which I was keen to do. This requires quite creative work and a lot of vision, conceptual design and planning.

A week later, a strange feeling came over me, and I experienced a very vivid vision (call it a day-mare) of one of the shoot scenes. In short someone tried to kill me, and the band members turned out to be zombies and not people at all. It turned into a bloody gun battle where I finally survived, but a new war began because the rest of the incredulous world wanted my head for killing "innocent" people.
I was shaking and feeling overwhelmed. Then I heard a dove cooing outside my window. It was the dove that had passed on the message to me. I had never thought of doves this way before, but suddenly it was absolutely clear that this was no ordinary dove. I had to act fast.

Immediately I called the band's manager and mumbled some lame excuse like "I'm not able to do the shoot anymore". I wanted to be more open, but was afraid that if I mentioned the details of the vision, they would all come after me because their cover had been blown.

Doves are multifaceted creatures. They are God's perfect protein pellet designed for the hard of hunting domestic kitttens. Their calls are a strong romantic symbol for me, reminding me of teenage love and relationships lost. And now they keep me on my toes in case another compelling vision is presented.

I used to be convinced that whoever tried to read my mind or put thoughts in it was up to evil, but now it seems I have some friends who use similar tactics.

Does anyone else have good watchers as well as mean ones?

I'm feeling so confused. There is a terrifying heaviness surrounding me. Nausea. Fear. Echoing gurgling sounds. Nothing makes sense. I'm afraid to go out and leave the house unguarded. I'm afraid to go to bible study again tonight in case the monsters that were around my legs return with voices this time.

Tsunami, it sounds like you're having a very negative episode... who can you talk to in real life who couuld help? I know it might be hard to hear, but perhaps the doctor could help. I know when I get to where you're at I'm usually on the way to becoming very unwell.

Hang on, and let us know what's going on. You mightn't be able to get to Bible study, but with your permission I'll pray for you. Stay safe.

Thanks Mgran.
If this hasn't got better in the next day, I will see if I can get an emergency appointment with her this week.

that sounds like a really good idea. I have good watchers, monkyes . I don't know why, but they look out for me and protect me. I have never been a huge monkey fan.... Till recently.

I hope things get better quick. Good for you tho for being willing to call for an emergency app.. I am not that brave.
Thanks for this!

I really hope this episode just magically passes on it's own, but... If not, I am glad you are willing to go into the hands of someone who can help you in this state. I have someone good that watches over me, also. : )

I have one "person" that I nicknamed Flo because she is around so much. I am no longer scared of her because she has been here so much and she has never tried to hurt me. And she never talks to me she just watches me. She is a short overweight cop and she can't get in unless somebody lets her in. I think it is because she does not have a search warrant.

I was thinking of you, DePressMe, because I saw you mention Flo on another thread. Flo seems quite visual for you, if I understand correctly.
So far my watchers are not visible - I am only aware of their presence. Most frequently they don't passively watch me (or listen to my thoughts), but instead they interact with me by passing me complex thoughts that I am afraid of because I can't be sure I can trust them not to lead me to harm.

I'm glad you have a friendly watcher you don't feel threatened by.

I have a machine which analyzes every tiny facet of goings-on, and returns results. When I'm in a clear mindset, it's rarely inaccurate. When I'm not, I misinterpret what it's telling me, usually in a negative way.

Sometimes, the message is clear, we're just hearing it the wrong way. Is it possible that the "death scene" was meant to embody a fear or apprehension of the event? In my case, it's a crossed wire or misfired translator - maybe the dove was trying to convey imagery in the only way it knew how? Doves are simple things after all - they may not grasp the various nuances of fear that we experience, and so convey it in a way that makes sense to them - mortal danger.

Just a thought.

I have a keen interest in animal medicine, and do shaman work as well. I believe everyone has an animal totem (mine is raccoon) and I always picture him sitting on my shoulder. I also am aware of Spirit Guides, I have one main one that 'oversees' the others, and then a gang of 5 more, each offering different guidance. They are just waiting for me to ask for their help, but I can be very stubborn by wanting to take care of things myself. Doing things the hard way and then afterwards kicking myself for not asking for their help earlier. Others call them angels, it's just a matter of your beliefs.

That's interesting to keep in mind, about totem animals, I didn't pick the monkey, I feel the monkey picked me.

Yes! I do have a good watcher as well as mean ones. Have you ever experienced a watcher that can be both good and bad? The main shadow man I have had in my life since I was seven years old can be both good and bad. A couple of years ago, he warned me about something bad that was going to happen. I thought he was lying to me because he didn't want me to get help, but it turned out that he wasn't and what he said was going to happen happened. It's difficult to know when to believe him but I suppose I have to learn to go with my sixth sense on that. The others are mean.

I understand that sixth sense to be an ability we all have to take billions of cues and fragments of experience and process them in our subconscious minds to come up with something called intuition about new situations. During psychosis our Aristotelian logic and executive functioning are typically impaired, but somehow our subconscious processes are liberated to come up with spectacular creativity. Logically, our doctors fob it off as nonsense and evidence that we need to up the meds. But I'm not convinced that our minds aren't making sense of things in a different way.
Unfortunately that sense can become rather crippled by the logic we need to apply to act on it.

I actually did a totem animal quiz once and it came out to be the spider. I originally took it for fun because I was bored that day, but it totally made sense to me. I've been obsessed with drawing spiderwebs and spiders, like doodling on paper, my hand, arm, clothes, and tops of converse (when I had them), etc. I was always mesmerized by spiders and their webs and them seemed unusally attracted to me. All of this confused me, I never knew why I had a fascination with them or why they were attracted to me, because I actually feared them.

I started to develop the theory that what people are most afraid of they're most obsessed with.

That's very cool that you recognized that. Here's a link that will tell you more about it: http://www.starstuffs.com/animal_totems/finding.

It's very interesting. Seems like finding your totem is a challenge. Is the totem meant to be similar to you or is it meant to represent the qualities you need to strive for or develop?

The site asks what animals have fascinated you, especially since childhood. That's easy - dogs and elephants. Then it suggests looking around to see what animals you have in pictures or figurines. I'm in my office right now. I knew I had lots of dog pictures around, but I was surprised to realize I have 3 elephants in my office! I also have a parrot, a polar bear, a cow, a bird, some cats, a lady bug, and several teddy bears. Can a teddy bear be totem?

Obviously this will take a bit of work. As usual I hate to commit myself to just one. Is there a totem for people who like to keep their options open?

Thanks for the link. I'll study on it.

LOL - glad you found it fun. I like the dog and elephant - they are both very loyal animals. Coincidental? Hmmmm......

It isn't actually. I'm an incredibly loyal person. It's one of my key attributes.

I was reading more about the dog totem, and I kind of like that one. It has some fine qualities. I liked some of the others too, though. I'll keep thinking on it and wait for inspiration to strike.

When I used this to try and figure out mine I came up with giraffe and monkey. I couldn't just settle on one either. I'll keep thinking about it tho. Thanks for posting this porcupine
