No no, I knew what you are talking about. You should still try to take care of the cuts if you're up for it. Nothing worse than a festering wound.

Are you saying you think they're going to whisk you off to the hospital? I don't think that will happen.

Try not to worry too much. Put your mind on something else.

Well, all you can do until then is just distract yourself, I guess!

I doubt it, but I can see why you're feeling fearful. My son's been through this a number of times. It's never resulted in his being hospitalized. The point of going to the mhc is to avoid hospitalization IMO.

I'm going to have to leave for now. I have to get my dog at doggie day care before 6 pm or ... idk ... she turns into a pumpkin? (Does that qualify for a white whine?)

I just wanted to ask, though, when you end up hospitalized, how does it happen? Does someone take you to the ER and you talk to a screener? Didn't you go to the hospital voluntarily last time? What's the protocol?

Another question, then I really have to go get my pumpkin, uh, dog. What made you make the appointment for tomorrow? Why did you call the mhc? Whatever reason you called them is the problem you're trying to solve, and that should be front and center at your appointment tomorrow.

My advice is a no-brainer. Don't say you're suicidal. Don't say you're homicidal. Don't let them see the cuts you made today. Just tell them you're unhappy and you'd like to take to a therapist. I really don't think they'll hospitalize you just because you hear voices or whatever.

In order to get a case manager (if they're even available there), you have to have a more severe disability. Probably the therapist would help in determining that? I really don't know. I just know not everyone is eligible for case management.

Newtus, I think a lot of people here maybe don't read this thread? Can you make a new thread with this question? Get some feedback from people who've been through this about the process and how upfront to be at this initial meeting.

I really don't think you're at risk for being hospitalized tomorrow, but I just don't know what will happen and what you should say in order to get help but to also feel safe.

I didn't know that. I thought you initiated it. Well, if it makes you feel any better, it's always me setting appointments like these up for my son, and he's never been hospitalized as a result.

Will your dad be at the appointment tomorrow?

Yea. I'm sensitive to that with my son also. I'm also sensitive to the idea that he may want to complain about me. So I always ask him if he wants me in there with him. That's why I've only been in with him once. Every other time he said no.

If you don't want him in there with you, say so. You're an adult.

Try to distract yourself. And remind yourself that by this time tomorrow, the appointment will be behind you.

Are there any TV shows you like? Thursday night is the one with my son's favorite shows.

lol... Ok, that's hilarious! It blanked out the guy's first name - short for Richard.

I guess I'm watching The Richard Van Dyke Show.

Hey! Why'd it allow the word 'dyke'?
