see part of the thing about this is was it was an hour away and had to drive home at night..

that was the the only one closet to me.
most of them are 1 1/2 to 2 hours away. CANT DO THAT.
dont even wanna do this s--t anyway.

thats how fu-king far away from places i am.
i got LUCKY that i am only 20 min away from my CMHC.
but even THAT is only a branch of it. so they have limited services. the main building is 30 miles away!

that's tough newtus. can anyone help you with the driving? where i live you can sometimes apply for funding for an assistant of sorts, and they can do things like drive you to appointments. i wonder if something like that is available there? sometimes here it falls under the title of "chore provider", or it can be part of a "person centered plan," or it can be part of "self determination." they might have something like that where you live.

i thought about that.
my dad cant. he works 12-16 hours a day. hours vary between 12-16. also he works everyday. weekends too.
and most places wont drive me because im in the rural. im in the county not the city. some of you may know what i mean. costello might.
its hard for me to drive to because the paranoia - panic - plus the meds make me lethargic a lot i realize its not safe.

Does anyone else close to you attend the meetings? Maybe you can arrange to ride with them?

Someone who lives near you. Or even not so near but would be willing to drive you.

im being 100% honest when i say i dont know anyone except for my father and mother and sister.

seriously though. i dont say that to make myself sound pathetic or ask for pity.
i dont do that because i realize how much worse off i actually DO have it than most people

the community buses dont reach my area. im too far.
id have to be specially picked up and im not qualified
yet or whatever is required for a mental health service

So, you can't tell the group leader or organizer or whatever what you're problem is and find out if someone is going your way? Or brainstorm another solution?

I always have this same problem with support groups. Al-Anon, I belonged to once. A couple of groups for parents of mentally ill children. Always meet on weekday evenings.

Well, I could probably find an Al-Anon group, but they're all different. The one I liked was on Tuesday evenings.

I can picture it, but maybe fish has never been in this neck of the woods - where one needs a car to survive.

Think about British mystery stories. Or maybe you don't read them. Anyway they're always taking buses and trains between towns or villages or whatever they have there. Public transportation. You know - socialism.

I don't know how US transportation works! We Eurosocialists have it easy with our commie trains and our red busses.

I'm from the Texas of the North, i.e., Alberta We have little busses that run between the smaller towns. They're unreliable and take aaaages, but they do go.

When I picture rural Texas, I see the Marlboro man eating BBQ and saying something prejudiced.

I used to go to Narc-anon with a friend who was quitting solvents. It was bizarre how different the groups were. At some they were nothing but supportive of her, at others they would basically call her an idiot for ever doing solvents (because it's one of the most dangerous things to abuse) and others refused to let me come in with her. Soooo weird.
