@ costello - we live in a different state, but there are many agencie here which hire CPSS's full time or significant part time. Some people work limited hours in order to remain on disability. (I don't know what your son has for income, or what the rules would be for him) my wife used to be on disability only, and it was not unusual for her to be hospitalized 10 plus times per year. In the past few years she has transitioned to being off disability completely, works full time, supervises other staff, and owns a home. I would definitely say having meaningful employment as a peer has been essential to her success. I really wish more states and agencies would expand their peer support programs!
Thanks for this!

In case your wondering, my job is to care for her child while she does work here at home on her computer & cell phone. Her child is asleep right now & I have to sit in the child's room while she sleeps. So that's why I'm able to jump on PC using my cell phone. I'm just sitting here hands shaking with anxiety over my stupid mistake. This lady doesn't know that stuff like this works me up so badly. Here I wear a "mask" & do my best to "act" like a normal person. When this child wakes up I'll have to face her again. I just want to freaking disappear!

You'll be OK it was an honest mistake and she said it was OK. I know it doesn't work when someone says try to relax but this is really common. My friends sister almost burnt down their house by leaving baby bottles boiling away on the stove. I would be proud you caught it fast enough to be safe for everyone.

Cracking Slowly, I fully understand your anxiety. I have massive panic attacks at work when I make mistakes. They rob me of my ability to function, I try everything I can to calm down, but it's increidbly difficult.

It will be okay soon. The panic will fade. This is one thing I've learned, but I know that feeling of wanting to disappear.

Thanks! I really, really appreciate your supportive words! It was such a dumb mistake on my part & just sent me into an anxiety whirl. I really wish I didn't get so worked up over it. But you're right, I should be proud of myself for catching it before it got worse. Hugs to your sister's friend. and to you for your kind support

So some good news. I have this thingy on my face (it's a skin tag I think.) It grew in February and it was making me depressed because it's so gross. And it was $120 to get it cut off at the doctor. So, I read Tea Tree oil gets rid of them. My MIL got me a bottle of Tea Tree oil $10 at Walmart pharmacy. In less than 1 week it's almost totally gone! I know this is an odd issue but I feel better knowing it's almost gone!

Thanks for remembering Gr3tta! Yes it is tomorrow (well today now as it's just gone midnight). I'm all packed, but I'm dreading the long drive, and I'm dreading my voluntary work on Thursday. Still, got to go back at some point, and hopefully my placement won't be too bad - it's just a new place and new people etc and I get anxious about new situations and worry that I won't know what to do and won't do a good job :/

@Costello: the peer support worker role sounds really interesting. I wonder if we have that here where I live? I hope your son enjoys the course and gets a job out of it at the end.

Hope everyone is ok I might not be around for a few days what with unpacking and everything, so take care all!

Oh, I forgot. The lady I talked to mentioned that - that they worked with people who need to stay below fulltime employment.

That's what I'm hoping for for my son. Something like that.

Yes, I think it's important to have meaningful work. This will be so much better for my son than that telemarketing job he passed on today. I hope it works out for him.

I get skin tags too. It goes along with glucose issues sometimes. I'll have to try tea tree oil.

Btw, a lot people just cut them off themselves.

My chicken Hilda is missing, and I can see one that looks a lot like her in the neighbor's coop. Has my little friend literally flown the coop?

That's great to know! I have a few of those skin tags on my neck. My hair covers them unless I have it up. I forget I have them until a child points them out. (I'm around children under 5 quite often) Then I feel really awkward. I'm going to get me a bottle of that Tea Tree Oil from Walmart and see if it'll work for me too. Thanks so much for sharing that!

Maybe she's just checking out the neighbor's for a while
It would be great to find Greedy Guts over there too!

Yes, she was. Here's my facebook update:

Quote:
Hilda went visiting tonight. She wasn't here when I got home. Then I noticed a chicken who looked very much like her in the neighbor's coop. I couldn't get close enough to see if it was her or if she could get out.

Finally I decided to go knock on the their door and ask if that was my chicken in their coop. As I approached the house from the front, I could see that the chicken who was in the coop was now standing on top of it. She knew who I was and she knew exactly why I was there. She very reluctantly hopped down from the roof and slowly walked home across their yard. She looked like a small child who wasn't ready to come home from visiting a friend.

She wouldn't let me catch her to put her in the coop, though. Darned chicken.

I wish. I saw a duck, but no other chickens.

@ cracking slowly-one time when I worked as a personal assistant I had taken my boss's car to get her oil changed and run it through the car wash for her, then stopped to buy some supplies for her at walmart. The instant I shut the trunk I knew I had set the keys down. I locked her keys in the trunk of her car at walmart. I was mortified! I considered just hitchiking home and never answering my phone again, telling her id been car-jacked, etc...in the end I had to just call her and fess up. I was so embarrassed I thought I might shrivel up and die on the spot. But it was okay. Now in hind sight its even a little funny. .
I like Daisy's picture.

Thanks for sharing that story with me. It's been 11 hours since this happened and I'm finally calm from the ordeal. In fact I feel a little silly for allowing myself to go crazy with anxiety over it. Luckily I was able to hide this from the lady I work for and she never realized just how upsetting this was to me. I did tell her to tell me how much I owed her for burning up her kitchen towel and burner cover. I told her I'd deduct it from my pay. She said don't worry about it and that was all she said. So I've decided to forgive myself and let it go. But I will be extra, extra careful the next time I'm cooking on her stove!

I am trying to get back to sleep for a couple of hours before I have to get up for work, and I am being taunted by fishes. FISHES! Its so ludicrous I would be laughing if it weren't disturbing me so much.

I've cut off all my skin tags. Best to cut them off when they are really small as they are less painful and don't bleed as much. I am of the mindset, they weren't there previously so they shouldn't be there now so off they go!

Cracking: thank you for the new pic of Daisy!

Gr3tta: sorry you had a rough nite.

Costello: thanks for the pic of Greedy Guts. I am so glad Hilda came home from the neighbors, too.
It is super cool that your son is doing the peer support training. I believe that the peer support system is crucial for recovery.

Willow: I wish you well in readjusting again. Hugs to you.

Everyone else: i hope you are all doing well

i was watching this video on youtube

and i feel depressed for the discrimination the professor is facing, he killed his whole family when he was 15 due to being a paranoid schizophrenic and was declared insane, he recovered and went on to teach psychology as a professor. this discrimination is the biggest social issue mentally ill people face, and that smirk that reporter was giving was nauseating, i'm flabbergasted because i come from a developing country just speaks for the odds i'm facing in society.

not only that this is exactly the kind of people we need teaching psychology. so simple things people just can't understand it's disheartening.

I wish there was a way to give you double hugs for this one. I'm glad the school is backing him but upset that the mayor is butting in to a situation he clearly doesn't understand.
Do you experience more stigma in a developing country? I know the recovery rate is better but other than that I don't know.
