I didn't know about the Yeti woman. At least later the psychiatrist realized what he did was wrong. I never knew that either. I didn't read the rest of them, my mind's kind of flying.

I know there was one experiement where a psychologist put his students into a prison setting. Some of the students were prisoners and some were guards. Well the guards became very abusive. It's another study that wasn't supposed to be repeated but a few years ago I think someone else tried it and the same thing happened.

Also the poor baby with the bunny. It's a really old one where they filmed this baby getting shocked every time she went to pet the bunny. Oh it was horrible to see and the one we watched didn't even show the whole thing.

The other is one where they took people and told they will be shocking someone in the next room (I can't remember if they are asking tehm questions and the shocks are if they get it wrong.) Well, there is really no one getting shocked, but they are supposed to turn up the power every time or something. The researcher stands there and tells them when to shock I think. People would do it and then break down. It was horrible. That's another one that's not to be repeated.

I am struck by thle delusion that thoughts are not our own. Thoughts maybe inappropriate , or random , or oppositional , but they are your own. The mind is our means of thought and it is flesh and prone to problems. Such is the complexity of it , its a wonder it works correctly at all.

I'm thinking of volunteering at the animal shelter. It's like pet therapy I guess, haha.

I always wanted a retired racing greyhound, but I never live in the right place for it. The last places I lived either didn't have a yard or I already had a pet there.

Now where I live, it's way too cold (year-round, it was wet and rainy all summer, yuck.) Plus we would need to put up a fence.

I wanted pet rats, too (with little rat harnesses, of course) but my mom gets freaked out by those, so...

The problem for me is that even before this guy came up with the idea it had already happened in naturalized settings----I can't find the one on napoleon but obviously that was from another era and it was just incidental. So not only did he try an experiment that wouldn't work but he then went even further with all that letter writing basically reinforcing the guys delusions---its just pure evil and no matter how much people complain about IRBs I think they are a good thing for this very reason---there seems to be something entirely unethical in the level at which some pdocs/psychologists will go to test a pet theory on other humans.

Yeah I think animals are really good for you...in the hospital I work at there are 2 dogs that get brought in for the kids one is a miniature collie and the other is some kind of swiss mountain dog but I love seeing them walking around the corridors. I sometimes wish I lived in Japan so I could rent a dog or visit a cat cafe---I'm allergic to fur so I'd have to claratin up but it would be fun for a short time...of course I have my bird who I love though so who needs fur!

The prison experiment was called the Stanford Prison Experiment and the shock/authority one is the Milgram Experiment. I had an argument with an arrogant staff member at a hospital about the latter. Good times.

Oh have you guys heard of the Rosenhan experiments---people pretended to have auditory hallucinations of just 3 words and then never again but despite being well they were forced to "take" anti-psychotics and admit that they were ill in order to get released. Apparently they just flushed their meds---man how things were different back then.

Then they faked out that they sent imposters when they didn't and the pdocs identified a number of people they thought were fakes..

Here is the Wikipedia article..

Yes, it was horrible he wrote those letters. That poor guy. It's just like my friends telling me they were getting phone calls from the "leader" of the secret organization on the pay phone at the Dairy Queen.... every day at 2 p.m.... but he would never call when I was there. Of course. And it only enforced my belief that they were monitoring me....

The irony is that in my own delusion the secrect organization didn't have a leader. It was because of them doing that to me that this leader person even came about. A scary man after my magical powers.

It's evil to lie like that.

Sorry you're struggling, but thanks for posting. I was thinking about you earlier and wondering how you were.
Really? Wow, thanks.

I'm still hearing voices and I'm on a high amount of geodon. I am so fed up right now. I'm so agitated and feel like I'm going to burst out of my skin. I woke up at 4:30 this morning and was up for good because of the voices. I'm so sick of it.

I think my illness is changing its focal point again. Like my symptoms are changing. I'm not feeling quite so disorganized but I'm hearing voices like hell.

Maybe. It's working for the disorganization but nothing else. The tv's talking to me. I'm sufficiently freaked out.

Taptalk updated to taptalk 2.
Now when you all respond to eachother and comment on a comment, it doesnt show who made the comment. Very confusing to follow the thread now. Ugggg

Did anyone understand what I was trying to say?lol

Lol you on a tablet? When I'm on my Ipad mini I just use the browser. I hear taptalk isn't very user friendly. Otherwise I just stick to my laptop/family computer.
